DTEC help

Ok, since the DTEC is similar to the UTEC and made by the same company i thought i'd post in this forum for some help. Mods, feel free to move this to the general tuning forum if i misplaced my thread.

Here's the deal: I have a basically stock car right now (though my 16g is going in very soon) and I recently installed my DTEC fuel and boost controller, using a boomslang harness and checking all my wiring, making perfect connections, etc, etc. So i went to start my car for the very first time yesterday andvoila it started and idled. Now here's the problem: as soon as i put any throttle response in, the engine coughs and stalls. I have an AEM UEGO and as i approach stall the a/f goes to infinity (lack of fuel) right before it stalls.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but when using a piggyback such as the DTEC or an S-AFC for instance, when you install it and don't change anything major in the fueling system, then the car should run normally. The only thing the piggyback really does is interrupt the MAF and adjust levels to fool the ECU into thinking that the system needs moreor less fuel so that it will adjust accordingly. But again, on a relatively stock car (no fuel changes at all) and with having all 0% changes in the fuel maps on the DTEC, then i thought the car should be running normally?

So, after all that, is there anyone that can suggest some help on the matter?

There is almost no similarity to the UTEC.. Its very similar to the S-AFC, but generally I would check your wiring, 99% of the time either the input and output settings are switched or incorrect, or the unit is misconfigured for your MAF type.. Make sure its set to Karmann, make sure if it uses a TPS signal that its configured correctly (0v-5v) and make sure all your connections are soldered, most of the time vampire taps or other non-perminent methods just don't work right..

ok, well maybe this thread should be moved to the general tuning instead of the UTEC forum. mods?

ok, well if we have the Karmann type sensor, then that is where the mistake lies. I was under the impression that we had a MAF so i hooked up the MAF wire instead of the Karmann wire coming from the DTEC.

*edit* I feel like such a NOOB now As soon as i switched to the Karman Vortex type signal and wire from the DTEC she fired up fine and thus far hasn't had a running issue. I can't believe that after 3 yrs of being on this forum and even giving others crap for not searching, i did the same. Thanx for the help Malibu, greatly appreciated.

Everyone on evom can send me a pm telling me i'm a noob for the next 24hrs!!! hehe.

Nah don't sweat it.. Besides when you said it cut out when you gave it gas, it was a dead giveaway.. I'm really surprised you didn't throw a CEL though.

ya originally i didn't have the knock sensor plugged in which is where the tach signal comes from so i thought that was the problem of fuel cutting out at first, but when i installed the knock sensor it didn't fix it.

thanks again.
