utec vs. dyno tune
utec vs. dyno tune
sorry for the question because i know it can be very biased and hard to judge.. but i been trying to figure out the pros and cons of both of this. i do like the ability to fine tune and check for knock and everything. but mostly i wanted to know the difference in power gain with the same mods..
i have the usual tbe, boost controller, hot/cold ic pipes.. basiclly the usual and wanted to know how much extra power could be made just by the utec and both tunned by a professional. and if i actually wanted to get into the program and adjust maps i would need to buy the tuner pro also?

Dyno tuning is a method, a UTEC or Reflash or any other engine management can be tuned on the Dyno.. Not quite sure what you mean...
HOWEVER, given a good tuner, either a reflash (I'm assuming its what you meant) or a UTEC can both produce the same types of numbers.. To get the best drivability on a UTEC, sometimes a minor reflash is still necessary (THough I never had trouble at all)
When the UTEC works, it works great, its accurate, reliable, and easy to work with.. however with the ability to do a reflash inexpensively, its biggest assets are no longer a huge selling point (Overcoming limitations of the stock ECU such as Rev Limit, Launch Control, Boost cut, boost control, etc..) So its best selling points are its simple (ancient) terminal interface (which I personally prefer because it can be adjusted with **ANYTHING** you don't need a windows PC) Its ability to switch maps, and a few other things such as very good logging, and multiple outputs for shift light or other RPM triggered events..
WITH THE RIGHT TUNER, THERE WILL BE NO DIFFERENCE IN OUTPUT.. Period.. No matter what you use to tune your car, if its done right, the numbers will be roughly the same..
