Help can't get Ecutek flash.

Hey guys,
I went to get an Ecutek custom tune tonight and for some reason my ECU cant get flashed. I am currently running a flash (mail in) and I was told that maybe its because he may be running openecu to flash. I do not know if this is true or not and for now its just hearsay. I am not here to bash anyone and I believe that he is a great tuner. I just want to know if anyone has come across the same situation similar to this when trying to Ecutek tune. I really want to get a custom Ecutek tune done and be satisfied with the car. If anyone has any idea of how my ECU can get flashed please let me know. thanks everyone.

drive a 2005 EVO

There are some tuners who have chosen to both lock and obfuscate the rom. Unfortunately it can cause problems with other flashing tools since they rely on reading the existing rom, identifying it, and rewriting it and its license (and modifications)

Although it was probably done using ECUFlash, it is not the reason why it doesn't work.

I honestly don't understand why you'd even pay the extra money for ECUTek, it really doesn't offer anything that ECUFlash can already do.

All his tuner needed was your unlocker

Ecutek does not dump the file so the tuner would have been able to get inside with the AM unlocker change the init code to standard with ecu flash and then use ecutek as normal

BTW - Jack

What you are saying about Ecutek is NOT true

They have advanced new functions and features that ecu flash does not have such as live map tracing and additional tuneable parameters

Its nice to know they have more features than they did earlier on. Its not like I've ever seen the software itself recently. I can see the map tracing as a value for the tuner. But I don't know about additional parameters, well, I take that back, it probably does have more parameters than what are in the typical definitions for ECUFlash.

I purposely avoided suggesting using ECUFlash and the unlocker to reset the code.

Also I want to appologize, I didn't realize this was in the ECUTek forum, I typically stay away from threads here.

No sweat my man

You would be suprized how much faster and more accurate a tune is when using a real time map tracer

Ecutek is light years ahead - its great stuff
