New ECU+ feature: EVO ROM editing and map tracing
Yeah I was/am doing something similar in my apps.. But I definitely will be relying more heavily on an ECU+ with these tools.
Cool.
I'll post it up on the boards here and on openecu. It's not going to be anything crazy with options. Just a simple app where you paste in your fuel map and then import an evoscan log file. You then arrow down through the lines and watch where in the fuel map you are moving.

...I'm not saying that ECU+ is inferior in any way. I'm just having my friend make a quick and simple app that will allow users to just visually see where "about" in the map they are instead of having to cross reference every cell by hand.
"Oh, that's nothing, my friend can do that."
That's fine if your friend can do it, but I respectfully suggest you post about it somewhere else than the ECU+ forum.
Thanks,
Dan

laakness, I'm not clear on your point in posting this here. Your friend's software is not related to or part of the ECU+. In fact, it sort of seems like you're pooping on Tom, who should be proud of his achievement.

1.) I never implied ANYWHERE that his feature was a small feat.
2.) You created your own "voice" of me in your head while reading.
Too bad the internet can't convey the tone something is written in.
When I do decide to post something of substance about it the post will most certainly have nothing to do with this section.

lakkness -
The issue with posting what you did was not that there's anything wrong with other people doing this sort of work, it's that talking about it really doesn't belong in this subsection of EvoM. Consider that I spent months developing this feature to enhance the ECU+, and I posted it here so folks can comment. By you saying that your friend is working on something to do a similar function, and that you're going to put it up on EvoM for free, you've (essentially) told all of the potential new ECU+ customers that they shouldn't bother buying the ECU+ - rather they should just wait for your friend to finish his work and they can get this functionality for free. By posting what you did, you "de-valued" this ECU+ feature to zero value for prospective customers. (And as Jerry said on the "Kenny Rogers Chicken" episode of Seinfeld - "that can't be good for business.") This is what Mach V Dan was saying - the ECU+ subsection of EvoM isn't the right place to be talking about your friend's work. Hopefully, you can see it from Dan's (and my) perspective - we both want to have a cool product, but in the end we need to sell 'em to make it worthwhile doing.
All -
I've decided that I'm no longer going to post ECU+ information here on EvoM, and also won't be replying to threads here requesting help. If anyone has an ECU+ issue or wants to talk about features, please use the forums at ecuplus.com or shoot me an e-mail.

I appologize, but I didn't mean it as a cut/dig/tell people to not buy your product.
I made one mention of a rinky dink piece of software and then decided to reply to MJ instead of PM'ing him. If you think me mentioning a tiny little app that does nothing more than highlight cells in a table threatens your $800+ ecu piggy back then you need to seriously look at your software/device.
Again, I really meant it as a "hey, neat, i was thinking the same thing".
Everyone on this board needs to quit being a bunch of weiners.

I understand your upset but its your posts and MJ's posts that made me purchase Ecu+ today. You have key features that ecutek cant provide me, I spent $699 on ecutek a few years ago and now everything you have to offer helped me decide to spent another $750 for Ecu+. With out your posts and MJ dedication to making power on the stock ecu I wouldnt have made the purchase, and with out your posts on this thread i wouldnt have had the information to make the switch. Dont take it out on the people that, need your help and info becuase of one jackass.

Wow, did I step into the Vagina Club in this area of the board?
I've never seen a bunch of women bi+ch and moan about NOTHING. I explained what I meant, I then apologized for the misunderstanding.
Oh well, this is Evom afterall so I can't expect even half of the people to read the entire thread and then make an educated comment. It's still the "skim, get angry, skim, post...rinse then repeat".

Problem is Nez, it would have been better received in the Ecuflash forum. Some of the people in this thread are either the innovator or distributor of ECU+ which can be construed as "toe stepping" with a post like that. Granted it likely won't be deleted by mods, it is better suited to the other forum.
I guess, "toe stepping" is the word, I know laak personally and i know he wasn't trying to take away from the ECU+ in anyway, he's just a IT guy and he made the comment as kind of a back up like "hey ya thats a good idea and we're trying to do it with the ECU flash." Hell I almost bought the ECU+ last year until i decided to go AEM. The ECU+ is a awesome unit with features that are untouched by any other piggyback system and/or ECUflash. Laak made it clear that he wasn't downing or taking away from the ECU+.
People are only beginning to realize the value of the features the ECU+ has to offer, now adding MUT logging, a more reliable method of load calculations to do map tracing, and being able to see/edit your maps within this application make the ECU+ the best tool out there for working with the stock ECU.. Not only that, but I havent even mentioned the fact that it already can do MAF Translation for a blowthrough GM sensor, it can log wideband data from *ANY* wideband device using its analog output from the wideband so you can use nearly any device.
