Am considering either use ecuflash to reflesh my stock ecu or get a apexi power fc L jetro. Any advise? Am not planning to mod my car more then 400WHP.
Current engine mod
1. HKS downpipe, de-cat and HKS exhaust
2. HKS EVC 5
3. HKS intake + Kansai intake pipe
4. Wallbro 255 fuel pump
5. HKS Fuel rail
6. Sard fuel regulator
Thanks.

reflash
power FC is very basic compared to a stock ECU, I have owned both and am much much happier with the ecu reflash than I was with Power FC.
with the right cable and software you can do so, so much more on the stock ECU!
Also with your power goals there's no need to compromise and go to the FC, you can easily safely achieve this best with stock ECU
live map trace using FC Commander is nice though. only way to get this with reflash is to use ecutek and be in the car with tuner when doing live map trace.
however its of questionable value on the FC, because if youre doing all of that yourself (map tracing on the road for tuning/analysis) I would suggest that you can tune yourself using ECUFlash and use logging tools instead. Saving massive amounts of money. Or you reflash using ECUTek, and it costs similar to an FC but with benefits.

The problem is there's no experience tuner from where i come from.. So my choice will be either get a power FC or ecuflash.

The power FC will be much more tunable and allow you to get rid of your maf if you are buying the d jetro. but my tuner said you should really buy a datalogit with it for tuning. Also it will be alot easier to retune everytime you add a part rather than sending in you ecu to get a flash.

you don't have to anymore. you can buy a tactrix cable for $90, download ecuflash for free, and flash away till your hearts content. most tuners will even sell you maps via email, you log, send log back, and get reworked map.Originally Posted by machtwo

POWER FC. every car is different. You can't really use someone else's map. POWER FC + datalogit = GREAT COMBO

TTP engineering-on this forum, very easy to contact through PM
dynoflash-kind of hard to get in touch with in my opinion
i had a dynoflash and now run a jestr map FYI.
also, anyone interested in ecuflash so you can do your own flashes and such, check out the ecuflash forum on evom in tuning forums and search for "beginner tutorial", that should help you out on how to get started.

Custom tuning or DIY tuning will always be better than remote eflash.
In this sense power fc will be better than ecuflash if all you're gonna do is buy a vendor flash and then do the upload using ecuflash.
If you're gonna datalog and tune yourself anyway...then no question ecuflash offers more capability at a much cheaper price than power fc. No question.

how do you figure? i don't know any vendors that sell base flashes for the power FC like they do for the stock ecu. and don't forget, these through the email flashes are of the same quality as mailing in your ecu and we all know how well they perform. of course a custom tune is always better, but the base maps from vendors are pretty good and a good starting point for tuning yourself as well. not to mention, not everyone lives by a reputable 4G63 tuner and the base flash will get you by until one gets to your area.Originally Posted by bhcevo

Eh...what I meant was that going power FC pretty much forces a custom tune for the car. Because as you say above...Originally Posted by hondafan

And yes purchasing an vendor flash to start tuning with certainly falls into the category of custom tune. I've done this with great success myself.
However...If I had just ran that vendor tune with my own tweaks I would have been less than impressed with what I had purchased.
All I was trying to say is that people should distinguish between using ecuflash merely as an uploading tool for a vendor and using ecuflash to do it yourself or custom tune yourself (with wideband). The latter is better result by far.
