Bashing? And good setup?

Hey whats up all, All I pretty much see on the first page is people asking whether they should buy or sell their AFC, or others bashing it........is that what this forum is for? Im not sure about it. I thought it was for sharing info and or setup ideas.

Where can we find this info?

Setup ideas with list of mods
benefiting posting for others who enjoy the safc-II

I agree with your synopsis. I have some bolt on Apexi parts on my ride, and I like the quality. The SAFC looks like an easy way for entry level tuning, and it seems like a reasonable choice to begin to learn tuning dynamics of modern automobiles. I haven't found anything useful in this forum about this product, as people mostly use the forums to sell their used stuff or talk smack. Sport Compact Car's last installment on their project evo had a rough SAFC tune on their car and made 400 with the parts added. They were able to make more power with a reflash on the same parts, but it still was able to produce power, albeit not as much. Being a "Noob" it seems like a good way to teach my self how to tweak my car.

There's plenty of information - it's just not recent. That's because EcuFlash is free and 100X better than an SAFC, which is a complete waste of money, imo. It's a very crude and very lame way to tune, because it just intercepts the MAF signal and tricks the ECU into thinking less (or more) air is being metered, depending on whether you add or remove fuel. This gives you somewhat of a control over AFRs, though not very precise, and it gives you no direct control over timing, but the ECU reacts to fuel adjustments by changing timing. You just can't control how much, which is a bad thing.

It also has no features...0. You can't add/change launch control, rev limiter, fuel cut, injector scaling, maf scaling, nothing...

ive heard a lot and if it was as bunk as ppl say it wouldnt have had so many editions and apexi has never gave anyone i know a single problem minus bein not to tuner friendly .another way i think MOST bashing comes from:
ppl who get upset they cant get it as easy as thought and it is kinda hard to tune but when tuned right ive seen gains of 20+ over most tunes and also ive noticed like my last car my evo detunes itself and i know its been said that the CEL light doesnt hurt ,but in my car in two day!! lost 60hp once CEL the light came on(even sounded dif thats y i was back in 3days!! and other times it went down dif numbers but all close it detunes itself sometimes even with the MAGICAL ecuflash and its only free if u have the $100-150 cable and a laptop which i dont!!! and for that i could go AEM ,i have ecuflash on mine tuned well but i also have an apexi afc neo im gonna add because i think with both itll cover more, plus it gives u important readouts, some set ,throttle position, realtime support, and one of the editions maybe mine learns the driver and also who cares if it fools ur car into runnin good i dont care if i have a truthful car or one bein lied to as long as results work plus anything the ecuflash can do cant b changed while drivin or even as quick.with stocker ecu u get one mode at a time instead of having maps(apexi),also its always set so your car doesnt detune,u add any boost controller even manual(as long as its dual)and Hi and Low maps to match so u can save gas and have a racecar or just adjust how it drives and the damn CEL light should be gone.
AMS is known for quality.as well as Buschur. they both use the afc in their power packages
im havin mine tuned wen i put my tomei arms turbo on so ill make a thread on how good or bad it is btw i DO love ecuflash its on my car now so i dont play favorites i just think this good lookin box is more than its made out to be, i mean look at other companies now everyone has "theyre own afc neo" so must be something also could be the factory maybe there was a time or still is where a batch got made wrong cuz until here i never heard anything but it hard to tune hope this helped at all

Agreed, there are too many good ways to tune an EVO to use a AFC on it. The AFC works great but for the EVO I'd highly recommend having the ECU reflashed.

The AFC for any import car is pretty much useless. Back in about the year 2000 the AFC was the way to go. Trust me I should know I had a 91 Talon with a 20g and a 2000 Civic Si Turbo 18g. But now we have ECUFlash for almost any and every car on the road today.
