Hello all,

Let me preface this by saying that if this is the wrong section for this, I'll move it.

My '05 Evo8 PCM has a WORKS P2R brain flash in it (was in the car when I got it). I attemped to go to a local tuner after some additional mods were done, and was informed that they couldn't access the ECU because WORKS had locked it. I then learned that there is ECUUnlocker software available. Will the ECUUnlocker bypass the WORKS lockout? Also, does WORKS scramble all the info in the tune so even if it was unlocked it would basically be untuneable?

Sorry if these are Noob questions, but I'd like to know before I take my ECU out, ship it to WORKS, wait, pay them to unlock it, and then re-install it in my car to drive it to the local tuner.

I cant speak for works at all but they do offer a ecutek flash. If its ecutek thats why you cant look at it or change the rom

 

Yes you can unlock it with the EcuUnlocker.
