It seems like the smarter thing to do, and you get good results from it.

Does one need a special kit? I know you have to change your injectors and Fuel pump?

found a good read by AMS. I'll hold off on the E85 for now. I am running meth so the results may be even greater.

BUMP

I know e85 requires you to run more fuel. So bigger injectors and a walbro are a good idea. I'm just curious if anyone with STOCK injectors is running e85?

I'm very interested in switching over and upping the boost from 21psi to 26psi....

You can run E85 on stock injectors, but you won't be able to run the boost levels you want. the stock injectors will be maxed out on pump gas if you're holding around 23 psi toward redline with a Walboro pump. I'm talking 110% IDC recorded (more like 98% actual).

With E85 you need AT LEAST 30% more fuel, and more is better just to have the headroom, so 715cc would be the absolute minimum injector size you could get away with. That's for the same boost levels as pump gas. More boost mean you need even more than the 30%. More air also means more fuel, so upgrading the turbo requires even more injector/pump.

I know some people have run E85 on 780cc injectors (around 40% larger), but I'd expect those to be nearly maxed out on pump gas boost levels (~24 psi peak). That would be the minimum you could run and make decent power.

^^^ thanks for the info.

I have a set of precision 1000cc (flow tested to roughly 900cc) that I can use. Would this be over kill or can they be tuned down with ecuflash? thanks again for the help

I'm running the same injectors (Precision 1000cc) with E85. I run around 29 psi peak and make near 400 hp on them. Stock ECU w/ ECUFlash, Stock turbo, stock cams.

Numbers based on pulls using DLL, so that's a number at the wheels. The car traps 118+ in the 1/4. Mid 11's.

Here is an older graph of my car showing the gains made from the switch. http://www.projecttuning.com/dynoGra...85_compare.pdf Look at the gains through the mid range. The car currently makes a little better peak numbers than this, and my DLL setup reads between the average Mustang and DynoJet results.

At least 1000cc injectors and a wally 255 and you should be good to go. You'll need to get a tuned after you make the switch though.

Yup ... pump, injectors and tuning is all you need.

BTW ... I replaced the TB shaft seals and switched to Denso IKH24 plugs over the weekend and modified the tune for the crazy heat we've been having. Ended up with 404hp. Might have been a fluke though ... gotta make sure that's a legit number as other logs had some intermittent knock that caused power loss. I was pretty excited. Still the stock turbo and cams ... even the stock manifold with no porting currently.
