Removing my turbo this weekend. Any tips?

Removing and fitting a different turbo to my IX at the weekend. Is there a guide or are there any tips from anybody that has done it?

Thanks for the help

What turbo are you putting in? A kit or a bolt in? If you search around I think there are a few threads. Try the how to section. It's conceptually pretty simple I think. You have to drain the coolant and the oil first. You might want to remove your radiator so you have more room to work. Spray everything up with PB blaster beforehand or you might have a few snapped bolts (I learned the hard way). Oh and get a new oil return line paper gasket before hand as well. Then unhook everything and you should be good. That's all I can think of.

Mechanically it's pretty simple. Protect the radiator with a piece of cardboard or something if you aren't removing it. Good luck.

PB blaster or WD40 all the major bolts the night before, then do it again prior to removal. Definately take out the radiator, its easy to get out, and it will actually save you time, otherwise you will get cut up, and the radiator will get damaged, and it will take longer.
