$1000.00 to burn, you know the drill.

As the title suggests, I got a thousand bucks to burn with a stock evo IX MR. I already know everyones opinion will be different. This is my first step toward upgrades and I want to get as close to 400whp, RELIABLE, as a daily drive, as possible. I know it's not possible with a thousand bucks. As I said, this is just my first jump.

Suggestions?

I'm still pretty new to modifications and I'm an aircraft mechanic, not a car mechanic. So forgive me if I need some things broken down barney style for me

I'm in over my head as far as all these acronyms go. I'm assuming that means manual boost controller, Turbo back exhaust, air intake?

I'm all over the internet and wikipedia trying to absorb some knowledge.

Intake looks pretty cut and dry. Remove some pipes, replace with the kit I want.

MBC on the other hand is above my head. I'm not sure how that works. From reading on wiki, I haven't learned too much. Do I need a waste gate/BOV before I mess with the boost obviously?

Any suggestions on a good exahust?
