max number of reflashes?

Sorry, I tried searching but couldn't find an answer. I have a Cobb accessport and it has an anti theft option that can be flashed to the ecu. Problem is I may be flashing to the ecu as much as 10 times a day if I use it. Will this be a problem?

I have no answer on how many times the ecu can be flashed. I've read a couple of threads regarding that..not related specifically to the AP..but I don't think it matters....some people have said they have flashed the ecu hundreds and hundreds of times.....

in your case though if the theft thing is such a major concern...as I feel with this car it is...why don't you just pull out your fuse then...by doing that you could even put your key into the ignition and it still won't turn over....the only way anyone could ever steal the car is if they loaded it onto a trailer, towtruck etc.

That's what I do

That sounds like a lot of flashing. Up to 20 times a day (back and forth). Like CPA5 said, I've read of people doing it in the hundreds, but you'll end up doing it in the thousands. I don't know.

It's been so long since I used my AP so somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but Realtime flashes take over 4 minutes to install and reflashes about 45 seconds. Add the time needed for picking the map from the menu and in the end I don't think the anti-theft flash is a very good option for you.

I would just use it as an additional level of security over the alarm. Maybe I'll just add a switch for the fuel pump somewhere in the car

Dude--just pull your fuse!!! It takes like 25 seconds to pull out and put back in....with the fuse pulled the only way to steal the car is load on a trailer, truck pull, etc.....which in that case anti-theft/fuel pump switch/etc. won't matter.

pull your fuse and then put your key in to start the car and watch it not turn over...it is by far the best protection....besides GOING INVISIBLE

I'm surprised no one has (can) answered this question for you yet....I can't be the only person with an evo doing this

Under the hood....there are two black box casings on the right hand side....one is square and bigger...you want to open the slim casing.....unless your car has different fuses then I do...there are three fuses in there....you pull out the one closest to the front of the car...it pulls right out.....to double check...pull that fuse and then go and start your car....unless it is diff. from my 9 then the car won't start.....and WALA.....it won't deter someone from smashing in the windows and stealing crap out of your car...but they won't be able to get in and drive off either

You could be. I know I've never bothered doing anything like that.

if you are using the real time flash you shouldn't have an issue with using the anti theft but if your hard flashing then you may eventually wear out the ECU.

the ROM in the ECU should be good for way more than 10,000 flashes or so. I think most chips are rated as 100,000. Some of the ECUFlash guys have done several thousand w/o issues. I've personally flashed about 1200 times I'd guess.
