Unhappy .....Threw a Rod,.......

so, i got my evo three weeks ago (sorry i joined a little early on here cause i thought i was getting it sooner) but Yesterday when i was leaving school my evo 03 with 27,000 miles on her threw a rod straight thru the block and into the intake housing on my turbo..... i dont no what to do, im a college student i dont make much money, i was stopped at the stop sign getting ready to make a right hand turn, four of my friends were behind me and they saw as well as my witness, i turned went to shift into second at 3k rpms (NO JOKE) and right before i engaged the clutch it blew.... at 3k rpms...... i wasnt on the accelerator at allll!!! i have a bigger turbo and i couldnt have even been in boost that low, my car just has bolt ons, intake exhaust IC and a turbo kit, its tuned for 91 octane, runs 18 psi no more, and at 27k miles three weeks after i got it it blew, i dont run it hard i never boost when shes cold, its my DD and i treat her amazingly. and now this happend.

sounds like someone sold it just in time? unfortunately for you this is going to be quite expensive to fix.

Sound like to me the bearing were worn out and that whaat caused your rod to shoot out of the block this happens when the motor is low on oil and you beat on it or sometimes just driven it around the bearing start a process which is called scoring which they tend to heat up and they get thinner in time and when they do you run into problems like this.Sound like you need a buschur stage 3 block good time to upgrade.

Best bet is to get a small loan and wrap it into your car payment and buy a new shortblock and whatever else you need.

someone on azawd said that AWD motorsports on here has factory shortblocks for 950$ which would be amazing, but ya time for a new block, hopefully the head wasnt damaged. i have been thinking about a buschur racing block or a cosworth one, but they are very expensive,

That sucks man. I took on a mortgage and have doctor bills from kidney stones and an appendicitis and then a week out of the hospital the rings went out on me. I know what you are going through. I would have to agree with getting the small loan if you are wanting to keep it. If not then hopefully you can sell it and make even =/
