boost control ?

going to do a major part/tune install soon but would like to be able to control boost by the ecu. have heard really good things about the gm 3 port B/S. can any one give me the ups and downs or possible alternitives. really dont want to go with a MBC. can any one tell me who carries the gm 3 port B/S. TIA

You'll get differing opinions on this, but here's my take. GM 3-Port is really only necessary when you get big, big numbers. I have the stock BCS, a different boost pill and do ecu boost control and have a great boost curve (peak at 24.5... taper to 21.5 at redline). For my mods (~345whp), my tuner said the stock bcs would be just fine as long as we changed the boost pill.

Have a look through (or search, it's easier) the vendor classifieds for the GM 3-Port if you go that route.

with TBE BBK full with optional hot side port ported EM, ARC FMIC, ETS LICP, titek V2 o2 housing ported as well, 750 injectors, and walbro pump. you think i would still be cool witht he stock bost solonoid with upgraded pill.

I'd suspect you'd be fine on the stock bcs although the only real backing I have for that is discussions with my tuner. He mentioned that if I was running a 35r or something with ridiculously high boost that it would behoove me to get a gm 3-port. Since I'm on stock turbo, he saw it as a complete waste of money and time. BBK isn't a huge turbo, but you can run more boost so probably safer to just get the gm 3-port and call it a day.

The GM 3-Port will run you ~$120 installed (that's what it is at a tuner shop here in SD). My tuner recently tuned someone with the Gruppe-S BCS (which is plug and play whereas the gm 3-port involves splicing into ecu) and had successful results as well.

absolutely won't hurt it and it's not overkill. my friend had an evo 8 putting down 286/295 with a gm 3-port.
