How far can i push stock ecu?
I have a crazy build going on, a hta86 would i be stupid to go from my apexi power fc back to stock ecu? My buddy mentioned that in a week or two your going to be able to run speed density with stock ecu? Any information would be great thanks..
Speed Density or not there is still no need for any other piggy back or afc. Mellon runs his car to 700 whp on stock maf.
There's nothing better than the stock ecu ditch the power fc buy a tactrix cable and start reading way more possibilities with the stock ecu than anything else.
Like for example map switching on the fly, No lift to shift, valet mode, launch maps, Manifold air temp logging, direct boost control with jdm map and gm solenoid, and the list just goes on and on.

Exactly. But mainly in the past two years there have been more break through from private owners that just want to give the average owner the most use out of the stock ecu just like any other stock component.
Nevermind most piggy backs or controllers are over 200$. All you need to tune is a 90$ tactrix cable and a wide band down the road. Also need a logger like mitsulogger for free or Evo scan for 25$ or they have this new gps logger screen which is sick. imo.
Then from there a little bit of reading and you can be modding your rom to do pretty much everything and more than what stand alones are capable of especially with the speed density release.
All of it is a lot of reading, researching, and testing so dont expect it to just come. You have to take logs, logs, and more logs.
Never tuned a car before in my life and after being on the forum for a few years and reading I have done everything myself and at this point I am tuning my car on a ported 9 turbo with meth injection. Its been fun so far. Always something to do.

Speed density mods:
5 BAR kalvico sensor (AEM or Zeitronix sell these)
GM Air temp sensor
The 5 bar kalvico doesn't directly wire in so i ordered up an adapter from the folks at Zeitronix via email so i didn't have to splice it in. Perhaps a cheaper solution would be to use that 4 bar sensor floating around which plugs in directly.
I have the GM air temp sensor (open element) welded into the UPIC instead of the intake manifold becuase i'm lazy and i didn't feel much like taking it off for my DD. I also welded in a Tial BOV and scrapped the MAF sensor all together in favor of a hard pipe with a K&N attached to it.
I still have some settings to play around with but its working fine and definitely is safe enough to mess with
