Questions about AP..

I am looking into purchasing a used Cobb AccessPort that was used on a IX along with a Perrin Electronic Boost Controller Solenoid.

I want to just use the Cobb Stg 2 map for my VIII. Am I able to use the AP on my car without the Perrin tune? And what would need to be done to just use the Cobb Stg 2? Would that map need to be reuploaded? Do I need any other parts, such as the boost restrictor pill, or any other parts?

Thanks in advance for your responses and any additional information you can help me with.

It would be best to ask Cobb this, contact their support dudes via phone or email.

But anyway, here's my $0.02.

The Cobb Stage 2 is the stock ebc with new vacuum lines to allow the higher boost. If you don't have vacuum lines, contact Cobb and they will send you some. They did for me and many others.

The full list of mods for Cobb Stage 2 is:
- stock air box with drop-in Cobb filter or paper filter ONLY (no HKS foam, boo, mine is on the shelf)
- Cobb vacuum lines on the stock EBC
- full 3" turboback exhaust with high-flow 3"in/out cat, or test pipe

Perrin replaces the stock ebc with their ebc. I am guessing that the Perrin maps are on that AP. Uninstalling the AP doesn't remove maps in it, just removes the map from the ECU and returns it to stock.

Btw if your sig is accurate you're beyond the Cobb and Perrin off-the-shelf maps slightly due to your Apexi o2 housing. I honestly have no idea how severe of a deviation it is, if it's a big deal or not. But technically, you're in the area of 'custom tune required'.

You can use any map you like with the COBB AccessPORT, it does not have to be a Perrin map just because the unit was originally purchased there. The mapping from Perrin is specific to their components, so if you use that map you will need to use the components specified in the map notes. The same goes for our OTS (off the shelf) maps as mentioned above. Stage 1 cars are generally those cars with a catback or no exhaust modifications at all and perhaps some form of intake modification. A stage 2 car is one with a downpipe at least or a full turboback exhaust.

The best route for your specific set of modifications is always going to be a custom tune by a competent and professional tuner of which there are several across the country. You can see a complete list of tuners under our dealer locator on our website.
