mail in cobb tune
mail in cobb tune
Looked around on the cobb threads but didnt really see anything on this. Im gonna be putting on an evo 9 turbo and 780cc injectors in spring. Has anyone on here got a mail order tune that is working well for them with similar mods? I know i can go to cbrd to get a dyno protune but dont wanna spend $400+ at the moment. I do have a wideband so i can monitor a/f ratios. Thanks in advance

Ok well 3 months later and still dont have a tune does anyone know of a mail in tune i can get for the app. I saw perrin makes maps for the evo 9 but do they do anything for evo 8s? I have a 9 turbo and basic bolt ons in sig. I tried to email perrin but after a week and still no response from them either
Cobb no longer makes the AP for the 8/9. Just fork over the cash for an actual custom dyno tune from CBRD so your car runs its very best. You're spending the money for the parts, now spend the money for the very best mod of all.
The short answer to your question is Perrin is almost certainly still offering etune services for your car. I also tried to email Perrin some time ago and they never responded. Not sure what their problem is but LOTS of other places will take your money if Perrin doesn't want it. My suggestion to you would be to look up a reputable tuner for the accessport and the evo X. If they are tuning X's with the AP, they can tune your VIII or IX.
I'd also like to add that you mention you don't want to "waste $400.00" at cbrd. You will only spend marginally less for a tune that isnt nearly as good. E-tunes generally start at $250.00, and require that you have a wideband, boost gauge, and a bit of time on your hands. After its all said and done, I think you'd be better served just taking it to cbrd first. You may find the process of getting your car dialed in via etune (after just having installed new injectors, etc) may be a bit more time consuming and frustrating than you think.
