factory ecu fried

not sure how, but my factory ecu is fried. i am having a mechanic check grounds or whatever he thinks he needs to check so this doesn't happen again. i have an 06 evo 9 mr and am looking at buying a used but working evo 9 ecu, part number 1860A465. will this work? are their certain ecu's per model like gsr and mr? do i need a specific one? do i just need to flash the correct image to the ecu and it will work? what do you recommend i do in this situation? Also, my evo is typically stock but a header and o2 housing installed and i'm getting 4WS to tune it later but now i just need my car to run. thanks in advance.

I have an 06 SE and my ECU fried too. I was just cruising down the freeway at 80mph and all power was lost. I figured out that ignition coil #2 wasn't getting spark and traced it back to the ecu. Dealership confirmed that ECU was toast. I am still looking for one but I think that all 2006 USDM models run 1860A465, different from evo VIII because of the MIVEC.
