Having problems with stage 1 & 2 maps
Ok I got my AP last week flashed on the stage 2 93oct map and go out to do some pulls. As I hit full boost I get a popping noise which sounds like its coming from the Turbo. The kinda sounds you'd get from over boost. But it happens at 18-19psi. I have a tbe, intake, wahlbro 255, & mbc set to 20psi. I then flashed the stage 1 map and it feels very laggy until about 6k. Then flashed the stock map on and the car has no problems. Any ideas what could be going on?
I am not an expert by any means, but its possible that there is a preexisting mechanical/electrical problem in the car that you don't notice until the more aggressive maps are used. This happened to me with my car.
He's talking about the off the shelf map, so there shouldn't be a problem with the A/F, but maybe it has something to do with the fuel pump since its not stock. Also OP - I see in your sig you have a bov, you're not supposed to use that with cobb otc maps. Getting a wideband would be good, so you can see if your A/F is off. I'm not saying it is, but its a good thing to have whenever you have a tune.
As long as the BOV is routed back into the intake it shouldn't make a difference. The fuel pump shouldn't matter either, the uprated fuel pump will only push more fuel to the rail, it won't change your A/F. It is possible that your getting a boost leak somewhere which would throw off the metered air, and could cause the A/F to go rich. Which would explain why, when you flash the more aggressive map you have the problem and when stock you don't. Look over your boost hoses, make sure they are tight, then try it again with the stage 1 first, since it doesn't sound like it will cause any harm.

A few things:
Depending on your altitude, etc. Cobb may have a different boost restrictor pill they'd like you to use. Give them a call and let them know. They are great guys and can likely get you squared away with the right boost lines/pill for very cheap if any cost at all. This *may* be your problem.
Another possibility is that you are running the k&n typhoon intake, which as I understand it has been known to foul up MAF readings and may be causing some of your headache. Do you happen to have your stock airbox? Not all aftermarket intakes are created equal. Some change the diameter of the maf inlet, while others slam air which is too turbulent across the maf (as I understand it). From what I have read, the K&N intake has been noted as being particularly troublesome for people, though I've not really read up on it in a while.
