Air Fuel Gauge dancing?

Morning all!! I did a search and last night installed a Air/Fuel Ratio Gauge in my 03 EvoVIII. I first hooking it up to the Front O2 sensor as the search I did told me to. When I am driving the gauge is all over the place, only during hard acceleration will it ping out to Rich. Is this normal or is it suppose to settle on Ideal during normal cruise??
Well first off you should not hook it up to the one closest to the turbo. It should be I think a minimum of 3 feet from the turbo. Mine is right before the test pipe. What brand is it? And when you say full rich whats the number it is reading or the last number it reads before it hits it? And if it is a narrow band then that would also be a issue.
The sensor goes in between the 02 sensors. Mine is in the down pipe before the test pipe or cat. While cruising I'm usually around 15-15.5. Goes super lean when off the accelerator and it goes rich under full throttle. Hope that helps. If it's acting very erratic (dancing around alot during idle, I'm usually at 14.7-14.8 at idle) then you may have a bad ground.
