can i change the vin# on evo8 with ecuflash?

can i change the vin# on evo8 with ecuflash?

just as the title reads. i have searched and found little. nothing definative. in ny the vin read by obd has to match the car. thanks rob

yeah i know it may sound sketchy but legit. looking at buying an evo with aftermarket ecu, stocker not available. not so good in ny where they babysit you at every turn. as another poster put it "....should be possible, what happens when an ecu fries and you need to replace it?...."

For Evo 8/9 they definitely do not read the VIN from the Ecu. Most of the Evo 8/9 rom's were condensed down to a single ID number I believe. Ecu in a friends car is a factory 2003 one and it comes up as a 2005. No issues. Passes every time
