Hot start/idle issues after mods/tune

I'm hoping someone could shed some light on the issues I'm running into with my EVO 7.

The basic engine mods: full 3" cat-back, test pipe, downpipe, turbo outlet, intake, GSC stage 1 cams, ID1000 injectors and AEM fuel pump.

The local shop that did the work is tuning everything on the stock ECU.

I've been back a few times for them to try and fix the idle and it's decent now but what's happening is when in traffic or slowly creeping along it will jump up and hover around 1500 RPM and sit there and not come down until I'm stopped for sometimes 5 seconds or more. It was worse before and they've tweaked it to get it as good as it is right now. The car is set to idle at 1000 RPM and most of the time it hovers around there decently when cold started or when not moving.

The bigger problem is hot starts. If I drive the car, park for a few minutes and then try and start the car it will sometimes start almost perfectly, similar to stock. Other times it will start and idle at such a low RPM it will die or sometimes rev up to normal idle very very slowly. If it dies I'll have to crank it for 3-5 seconds for it it to start.

My tuner is saying with the larger injectors he's limited to what the stock ECU can do and isn't able to get it better than this; has anyone experienced this?

Do I need to get a different ECU/piggyback/engine management to get my car to run more normally? Is this as good of an idle/hot start as I should expect?

Appreciate the help!

This thread should help you out. ID 1000's are great on the street, even with the stock ecu. Just out of curiosity, are you running a Tephra rom?

I ran 1250s at one point on a stock ECU. They can handle 1k's easily. ID'S are also an excellent Injector so those should work well. As long as it's not a sensor going bad (TPS or IAC) then I would just get in contact with someone to do an etune. Or just learn how ro tune the ecu your self. Tons of information out there.

Thanks for the replies guys, very helpful. I'm not sure if I have that rom loaded, the car was tuned start to finish at my local shop. That page has a lot of great info.

I will follow up with the shop, sounds like both issues should be able to be resolved even with the stock ECU. English Racing also isn't too far a drive for me either..
