UTEC + Flash?
UTEC + Flash?
My basic question is will the UTEC work effectively off a reflashed ECU like from Vishnu, WORKS, and Dynoflash? Are there any signifigant advantages or disadvantages to going this route? I really like the features of the UTEC...and I am planning my first power upgrades with the ECU / Standalone / Piggyback in mind. Sorry if it has been discussed before and thanks!
I have a dynoflash and I'm reflashing back to stock to take full advantage of the UTEC and its upcoming library of maps.
You have full control over ignition timing and can modify the fuel tables, so in reality it will have just as much and better control over the ECU than a reflash. And it is easily swappable back to stock.

The answer is yes, you can use it with an existing flash, however forget about using any existing maps as a starting point.. Currently the UTEC does not have injector scaling for the EVO (That will change shortly enough from what I'm told)
BUT keep in mind that if you have a "performance enhancing flash" that changes open loop maps.. you will already have a near optimal tune, so any tuning changes you'd make with the UTEC would be fine-tuning for updates to your hardware..
Until the new UTEC software update is available from TXS, things like Fuel Cut, RPM Limiter, and Injector scaling are things you can flash to bypass as long as the fuel maps and targets aren't changed in the factory ECU
