ACD + AYC data log please
Hi everyone,
Just after a data log of the ACD activations/pressures while steady-state driving at about 50/75/100 kmph (roughly 30/45/60 mph) on an Evo with ACD + AYC (as I have a JDM 8 GSR).
I have loads of logs, but none during steady speed conditions.
I can hear my ACD pressure relay ticking maybe every 2 seconds while just cruising above 70 kmph, which I never used to hear in the past. I'm unsure as to whether this is because I replaced my terrible stock speakers and can play music at a lower volume and hear the relay ticking, or if the relay is just getting loud, or if I somehow have a pressure leak that the system is compensating for (despite not losing fluid).
While my ACD drain plug never drips, it does have fluid on it, but I have teflon taped it, which seems to have stopped the fluid buildup but not reduced the ticking.
Cheers

you burst the membrane in hydroaccumulator. To verify this, look at the scanner as the pump picks up pressure. if it drops abruptly and immediately when opening the salenoid, then this is it 100%. but if this is not the first symptoms of the death of the pump

Thanks Wertigo! I had not come across this before. Seems like it will happen to a lot of Evo's sooner or later.
I'm trying to test whether it is the accumulator or pump as you suggested - how long should the system be able to hold the pressure high (between 150-300 psi / 10-20 bar) if a solenoid is not activated? Theoretically, indefinitely?
It seems like my system is still able to hit over 17 bar /250 psi in data logs, so I'd say it's more likely to be a problem with the accumulator.

Bit of an update: just swapped in an accumulator from an Evo X (hopefully it's good) and will bleed the system tomorrow.
Pulling the hydraulic unit out of the car is no easy feat when it's been in place since 2003!

Hydraulic unit removed
Reservoir pipes on the left and left and right AYC pipes and ACD pipe on the right
One more update in case anyone has to do the same: it's all fixed! I have bled the system and the accumulator is holding pressure.
A few tips: Don't try to remove the accumulator while the hydraulic unit is still in the car (on a JDM). Remove the rear bumper and pull the unit out, then swap the accumulator with a 27mm spanner.
Fill the reservoir once it's all back together, then run one of the OP Check commands from Evoscan. I did the AYC left briefly (after cracking open the bleed valve), then refilled the reservoir, as the pump will very quickly empty it if you're not careful as the hydraulic unit and accumulator will swallow a lot of fluid. Then check for bubbles while bleeding the left and right AYC valves and ACD valve with the OP Check commands.
