New UTEC user with rpm scale question

Whats up all.

Just got my utec and remote switch day before yesterday and I'm real impressed with the features you get from a plug-n-play unit.

So on to my question, can anyone tell me the exact rpm scale increments are??? All the maps are 40 rows X 10 columns so it should be a matter of dividing the rev limit by 40.... but the manual does not mention what the rev limit is and I did not see any parameter to adjust it so I assume the primiary rev limit is fixed.

I pulled the basic utec stage 1 map into excel and by looking at the datalog and comparing to the load points and fuel numbers It looks to be around 200rpm give or take.... anyone know for sure????

The UTEC uses 250 rpm steps in its map. The maximum rpm point is fixed at 9000 rpm. However there are some unused rows in the 40 x 11 map reserved for future use.

You should also be aware that you cannot edit the map using a text editor as there is a checksum calculated which needs to be changed if you change the map. There are some map editor programs available from WRX users. These can be found in wrx hackers .

Right on, Thanx Pete.

I was woundering about manually edditing those maps.... so you must have read my mind.

One other question in regard to the remote map switch, I assume when using this on the evo we just put the included jumper between the trailing clutch switch leads correct, or i guess it does not matter since the utec looks at the stock switch...

Launch control is available on the EVO without the need for the remote switch. The clutch switch wire on the WRX remote switch is not used on the EVO unless you want to fit a second clutch switch.

Hey Pete,

I am in the process of building a tool that will interface with the UTEC with full graphing capabilities for tuning among other things. One of the features I want to implement is a map editing tool that allows you to edit maps on the fly then send them to the UTEC but I noticed, as you mentioned above, that a checksum check is performed. I am wondering if I could get the algorithm used to create this checksum so that maps could be edited and loaded from my tool.
