satisfied with your UTEC?
I have been sitting on the fence for a while watching the posts on this list. Except for few posters there hasn't been a lot of traffic about happy users.
So would people with the UTEC installed please express their feelings about the product? Drivability? stock like or rough? Can you get a tune and be happy with it or are you always looking to fix a hiccup?
The UTEC looks wonderful, and the members who have worked at using it have made it look even better. Thanks to them!

Well, my quick answer I'm really happy with it. Don't regret any aspect of it at all. Of couse I'm probably the most vocal user of the UTEC so its a bit unfair for me to post. The only "Drivability issue" I had was a part throttle stumble, it was easily resolved and has so far been well documented and there is an easy workaround to eliminate it. Otherwise, when its not "doing its thing" the stock ECU is doing its thing, therefore drivability in general such as cold start, and other mundane tasks like A/C Cycling are still left to the factory ECU to perform so its the same as stock.
But, I think any tuning device is at the mercy of the users ability to tune, or the ability for them to find a tuner comfortable with the unit. I have spent very little time "Chasing down" the perfect tune (I have been running the same 2 maps for several weeks, and my experimental map is an attempt to map the entire timing map on my car since it appears to be a bit different than other cars)
There will always be people who have problems with chasing down the tune they want, but mostly its about the aftermarket parts and choosing the combination that works together. There are obviously minor glitches that occasionally (though rarely) show up in any product, but you can be certain that TurboXS will do everything in their power to resolve issues quickly if you had any.

I have had mine only a few weeks but I am happy with it. Unfortunately, I don't have much experience yet working with it. It is true that there is a transition stumble. With advice from other members, I have been able to dampen it, but not completely eliminate it yet. The potential for the utec is incredible, and I expect upgrades will be out shortly. I looked at standalones, but as you will find out, there are certainly issues with these also. I love the option of having different maps loaded for different driving situations. If you plan on major hp upgrades, I would consider a standalone, otherwise I think you would be happy with the utec.
I reread your post and realized I didn't answer your question. With only exhaust system and BOV, along with the utec, the car runs as smooth as stock and remains its daily driveablility. The stage 1 utec map is fairly conservative as you would expect. However, there is a noticeable increase in power from stock ecu to utec stage 1 map.
i've had mine almost as long as i've had my car...2 months+ and im still happy with it
almost 320whp and i drive her the same everyday. she shows no signs of trouble. but what i would suggest is a dyno tune, it made a world of a difference over the OLD stage 1 map

I had serious part-throttle stumbling issues, and I was pretty much ready to sell the UTEC and get an XEDE. But TXS recently posted an updated map, which completely fixed the problem for me. Now with the TPS threshold at 10%, and the new stock map, there's no stumble at all. So I'm pretty happy with it now, although I did expect a more noticable performance increase. But my car is stock right now, and I'm using the default map, so I guess maybe I expected too much. I believe it will be much better after exhaust & some tuning. It's certainly capable.
i love mine, finished my 93 octane map road tuning in 45 minutes, ive been ironing out the timing transition andtapering the table so it blends with what the factory ecu wants to run and lowered the tps threshold and its 98 percent gone. im fixing to add nitrous xpress ntercooler sprayer to a spare solenoid switch and start tuning on c16,it was a little slow going at first until i learned to navigate through it but its well worth it,on MS103 at the track the z28 guys hate my damn car. its awesome and on the same stock boost 19 psi. theyll have to pry my utec from my cold dead fingers..and its features and specs are always evolving...
