Need emergency help with E85 Tune!

Hey guys, so I bought my 03 Evo 8 a few months ago, it had quite a bit of mods done to it already and was tuned on speed density and E85. Previous owner told me the guy who tuned it did a bad job and the car went boom. I rebuilt the engine, added a few more mods, and got the car running. Had intentions on getting the car retuned asap with the setup that was on it plus what I added, but I ended up coming across a good deal on a bigger turbo and couldnt pass it up, so I purchased that along with some other things. I had the money set aside for the tune but literally the day before my tuning appointment some stuff came up and I no longer had the funds. So my car is now still needing to be driven because its my only car right now (I know don't bash me cause DD racecar is bad time blah blah) I adjusted some things in the fuel map to be able to drive the car and I've stayed out of boost completely. I'm really hoping someone on here can take a look at my current tune and maybe make a few tweaks so I can relax a little when I have to drive it. I'm getting tuned here in the next week or so but I have to drive the car back and forth to work (45min drive) and I know the longer I wait the faster it goes boom and I cannot afford to have the car down (no, car, no work, no money, no car). If anyone can help me out I would be forever grateful. I just need a bare minimum base tune so I can drive the car (cautiously) and at least get my timing and fuel better than what they are now.

List of mods that were "tuned" for the car
-ETS 3.5in FMIC with short route piping
-ETS 3in speed density intake
-Tomei bov
-MAP full 3in downpipe with Turbosmart EWG to 02 dump
-3in cat delete
-3in full exhaust
-Omnipower 4bar map sensor
-Spoolinup speed density adapter harness to gm intake temp sensor
-full size Mishimoto radiator
-Deatschwerks 300 fuel pump and Deatschwerks 1500cc injectors
-Spoolinup injector resistor delete
-Evo 9 turbo
-EGR delete
-tuned on E85

Now here is the list of mods that I changed or added that need the retune
-AEM high flow fuel rail w/Radium fuel pulse damper
-Megan racing tubular exhaust manifold
-MAP EF4 turbo
-Turbosmart 18psi IWG
-Kelford 272 cams
-Grimmspeed 3port EBCS
-Spoolinup cop system

(also installed ARP headstuds in case anyone wanted to know)

So yea, I know I screwed up but like I said, I had the money set aside, and was about to load it on a trailer the day before in preparation for the tuner, and stuff happened and I was left with everything already installed on the car, and the I sold the old turbo set up to help pay for the tune (smart right?) so yea I'm screwed right now lol. But if anyone is willing to help me out, I can send my current tune and whatnot. Just let me know. Thanks!

Do you have the ECU logs we can look at?

Slideways8 Jun 19, 2017 09:59 AM

Yea I'll post some here in a sec. At work so having to check phone between runs (I'm an EMT and never know when I'm gona be gone or not lol)

trying to post up some pictures. I can also email my current tune and the last few logs I took as well.

OP,

By staying out of boost you likely have very little to worry about if your car starts and idles fine with no knock. The screen shots you posted above are nice, but I think what MinusPrevious was refering to was an excel sheet with parameters side by side so that we can take a look at what your engine is doing. These parameters would include, Throttle position, o2 feedback, timing, afr's (if possible), MAP values, Coolant temps, knock sum, etc. Evoscan should have a lot of these items pre-configured for you, but you'll have to change the conversion formula for the 4 bar map sensor.

yea, im trying to get that pulled up now. gona have to get excel real quick

If it starts, idles, and runs ok out of boost you should be fine if you keep it out of boost until your tuning session. E85 is a very forgiving fuel and if your engine is running ok, you are not likely to do damage. Keeping an eye on the AFR's and fuel trims would be a good idea though.

This is the main fuel and timing maps. Idk maybe its just me but they look screwy in my opinion.

Slideways8 Jun 19, 2017 12:07 PM

Yea I gotchya biggie. Only thing that worries me is my knock light isnt flashing, and the car seems to drive ok, but Evoscan is saying im getting knock like crazy in the lower rpm range. I know its sensitive and all, and Im still a noob with evoscan and ecuflash but it looks like the guy who tuned the car last set the knock threshold pretty high so it wouldnt flash. idk. I guess im just super paranoid and dont want to hurt my baby :(
I mean according to my wideband I never see it really dip under the 13s which is scary. And evoscan is logging me around a constant 14.6ish with an occasional 17-19 spike. its weird.

Sorry just realized I posted timing map twice. Here's the high octane fuel map

best i could do for now. but that looks horrible..

Biggiesacks Jun 19, 2017 12:59 PM

yah i dunno WTH that block of 19.2 is about. Maybe trying real hard to save on some gas. I would just change all those back to a nice 14.7 and see how that goes. Also when you do that paste in some stock timing values in the corresponding cells in the timing map. Your fuel trims are pretty bad, but try fixing those fueling values first wipe the trims by pulling the battery and see how it does.

LetsGetThisDone Jun 19, 2017 01:11 PM

That block of 19.2 only gets used on start up, when the car is in open loop. Otherwise the car should always be in closed loop at idle. Having to pull that much fuel their points to a not very good base map.

Slideways8 Jun 19, 2017 01:55 PM

Yea, thats the "tune" that was on the car and I cant wrap my head around it lol. And evoscan is showing that Im stupid lean and getting knock. ughhh
