HKS RS intake kits
is it possible to get kit without that cheap *** foam filter like maybe one of hks's filters instead, those filters dont protect anything as seen my some test run by people on this sight and the filters deteriorate over time and i dont want yellow foam in my engine =X

Sanjaya1--It does not come with a heat shield. Some companies prefer to use normal intakes rather than CAI's on turbo cars, as CAI's don't dramatically help much on turboed cars. Also, because of the intake placements on EVO's a CAI will not help much.

mrbubbler--Sorry about that. HKS makes the supermega flow, the racing suction, and normal drop in filters. I'm assuming your talking about the drop in filters into your stock air box? Because the supermega flow and the racing suction both use the thin filter elements that you speak of. However, the drop in filters are also made of the same foam material. They also make a metal flow filter which is similar to the blitz sus intake kit. If you can please post a pic of which one you are looking for.

mrbubbler--From what you were describing you'd prolly want to go with the metal flow intake. It is just the intake itself that bolts onto the stock arm. Here's a pic
These would go for $200 shipped
Thanks

Mike. Im interested in the hks intake, but i have a question i would like to ask you first. Does the intake have an opening for a recirculating bov?. I can see from the picture above something that looks like a stock bov connected to the intake. I just wanted to be sure before i buy.
Thx in advance STaTS.

Is there a projected time period of how long you can use this filter to avoid having it fall apart in the engine. I was really interested in this until I heard of the filter falling apart. Also, how much is a new filter?

evo-stats--The intake pipe on the RS intake has the same connections as the stock pipe, so yes you will be able to connect the recirc valve into this intake. Thanks
lancealott--I've never heard of the elements falling apart and being sucked into the intake system. As with other air filters, these elements should be changed on a regular maintanence schedule. HKS recommends every 20,000 or so. Extra filter elements run $15 each.
Thanks
Mike
