Greddy Type-S with RRM nonIC Turbo?

Hey guys I did my searching and I couldn't find what I wanted to know about the greddy type-S blow off valve.
Should I get the Greddy Type-S blow off valve? Does it bolt directly onto the RRM kit because I heard some talk about an adaptor?
This post was created so that you guys could give me any information whatsoever on this setup? Anything ranging from opinions to install to the single spring mod. I just want to know everything and anything.
Thanks

My guess is you don't need the flange, since you are likely to have one already with the "stock" RRM blow off valve. Why upgrade though? You could spend that money on a ported 4G93 (Mirage 1.8L) intake manifold.

I would just call RRM and find out and get a price quote at the same time.

If you have an RRM kit, it will either have a flange already welded on for a greddy type s, or you will have just a small tube welded on. If you have the flange welded on all you have to do is ge a type s and bolt it right on. If you have the tube, you will need to buy a standard universal type s flange and either have it welded on, or you can use a coupler and clamp the flange to the tube that comes off the RRM pipe. I have a universal flange coupled onto the pipe with my setup (I think that's how most people have it) and it works fine. Great sound. If you have the extra $$ or know someone who welds, have the universal flange welded on though, just looks nicer than having your bov clamped on. I'm gettin mine welded pretty soon.

if you just clamp it on it should look like this:

I just read the rest of your post. If you do go with the greddy type s and you have the RRM kit, you need to do the single spring mod. If not it will flutter, sound gay and you will get compressor surge. It's really easy to do the mod and initial installation is a snap. I love the type s. It's the BOV that a majority of people with turbos have, sounds awesome, looks good, great quality. What other info are you looking for? Go get one!

Lively did you get a chance to check up on your setup? The reason why I am thinking about upgrading is because I got a really good offer on the BOV. I am going to be picking it up from a local guy this wednesday for 80 (that's if I don't get a reason to not pick it up from this post). I was going to get a magnum fuel rail but I didn't have any money at the time and I am thinking I'll be upgrading that along with my throttle body at the end of the summer. The only thing that is holding me back from a throttle body and IM are the prices.
Where did you get yours (IM) and for how much? I because if i can save some money by finding alternative venues besides RRM then I am happy to do so.

OZ lancer 1 since you are running with the single spring mod are you running both vacuum hoses or just the top one. I heard that if you run the top one it sound and feel a lot better.
As for any other information...I'll accept anything. Just want to understand the BOV fully so that I know what I am getting myself into.

hahaha, thats my picture, nice.

yeah you get a flange and a gasket with the kit, that you just link the flange side of the bov with the tube coming out of the rrm piping. you link them together with the black hose in the picture and then tighten them with ring or T bolt clamps. the greddy rules, it sounds so nice and its all adjustable so you can tune it to how much boost you will be running at anytime.

sorry for my ignorance but how do you tune it? I have an idea but I don't know if that is what you meant. Can you clear that up for me.

There is a screw on the top of the BOV, that you can back out or screw in. That determines the pressure on the valve, which in turn, determines how much pressure it takes to blow off. Essentially, if it is softer, the car requires less pressure and boost for it to open, so you will be blowing off under light throttle, and vice versa.

The purpose of the bov is to prevent compressor surge. The air coming out of the bov is the amount of air that would damage the turbo if the bov wasn't there. The wastegate determines how much boost you can attain. Correct me if I'm wrong airquez.

PS - if you're smart, you'll cut off the BOV outlet on RRM's piping and get that GReddy flange welded on. Why have an extra connection when it could be welded solid?

The only vacuum hose I'm running is the single hose to the nipple on the top of the BOV. I have no problems and it sounds great.
