SC or TC? Need some real advice
Over this up comeing winter i plain on doing performance upgrades to my car and im stuck between Turbo and Supercharger. I read other fourms with info on both subjects with pros and cons on both. Im still not sure what is best to get for the money i wanta get something that will give me good hp. Im looking at about $6000 to spend for the upgrade. i have two options in mind but im not sure witch will get the best Hp gain and Tq gain over all. The reason why im not sure what to get yet is cause the down falls for each one. i dont know much at all about engines and im not going to pretend in do im still learning im just finshing the body work this weekend so im starting to look into performance. Im going to be doing the pistons and rods later on please help me pick what would be best and if there is other better options i havent though of please fill me in. Thanks

Not liking the looks of those lists.
Both need ported IMs. And why are you neglecting the cat and downpipe?
Cam gear is pretty useless unless you're playing with timing.
SC - don't get the RRM header, get the RPW. It's better for what you'll be doing.
Moving to F/I forums so you get some answers...

Of the two I'd go with the RIPP MODS SC. I think the ingenuity of their Black Box speaks for itself, and it will much easier to get help/service from them. I'd also get the RPW header rather than RRM however. That way your entire exhaust would be 2.5" (from the downpipe on), and (call me a softy, but...) I'm a sucker for independent dyno results.

where in CT are you? i'm asking cause I'm in New haven, my car is at RIPP right now getting the new stage2 being put on. in fact, me and melaz are going down there either this friday or next week to pick up the car (ripps in staten island)
So I can not only show you a lancer first hand with a ripp kit on it, but if you want, you can take a trip down to ripp and check out the shop, the guys, and the cars.
Unless your completely building up the engine, for the supercharger side, get:
stg2 ripp sds: @4.1k or so
(includes pulleys and boost cooler so you can safely run 11psi)
supporting mods should be:
rpw header
hi flow cat
good catback
ported IM
bored TB
all that stuff should get you boosting rather nicely, then later on you can build up the internals and boost 18psi, add a camshaft and gear and ported head, and you'll really be pulling
basic advice no matter what you do is this: start off small and build up, don't go for the gusto straight off the bat, so maybe start off with the stg2 sds kit and full exhaust, then some more support mods, etc

Get the RIPP SC. There are proven results from that kit. I would even go for stage 2 (fuel upgrades). There was a Lancer pushing 300+ HP and TQ with that kit @ 18 psi. Of course, you would need to beef up the internals: rods, pistons, etc.
FIrst off, determine your HP goals. Good that you already haev a budget, which is the second thing to determine. Then determine what purpose you want the car for.... A linear SC powerband is great for autoxing and short sprints where that is more desirable, whereas a turbo has more up top for long runs like 1/4 miles. Finally, understand that turbos will give more horsepower per dollar spent than SCs but you really cannot compare the two. I 've driven in SCed cars and in boosted ones, and my preference is turbocharging. Essentially, the choice is yours.

Ripps black box included in their SC kits is very interesting and attractive. It takes care of your fuel issues so all you do is increase your power and it adjusts itself. If you go rrm stage 2 you're pretty much stuck with RRM's piggyback. It would be nice if RRM would give you the option to use emanage or AEM with a couple of preloaded maps. That would be sweet... With RRM stage 1 there is room for growth and you can go whatever route.

yeah, the black box is pretty cool, as it senses boost it adds fuel and starts pulling timing, and like people mention, its self learning so it will adjust for elevation, temperature, etc etc
however, if you add a camshaft, you will have to have ripp program the black box for it, but thats no big deal
yes, for starters, you need a header, and an exhaust is advisable. rpw header is the most expensive, but the down right best. we are talking probably 10% increase in your torque curve over the other short tube headers (kamikaze and rrm) when supercharged
for exhaust, i love my magnaflow catback from performance peddler (best price around) but you could have a custom one made and use a good muffler adn resonator

LOL, thats actually part of hte reason i went with the ripp kit (a small part) but its just something different, ya know?
hell ya man, i'm willing to give anyone a ride if there interested. i just need the car back first. i believe i should have it back next week sometime, so after that, whoever is interested can let me know.
i know ECLC is arranging a special "meet greenpsycho meet" (look in sig) too if anyone is interested

ok guys thanks alot for help for my mods this is what im going to do
RIPP Stage 2 Supercharger
RIPP Overdrive Aluminum Crank Pully
RIPP Small Shaft Pulley
RPW 60mm. TB
RPW Headers
Magnaflow Catback

While you're at it, get a 4G93 IM from a salvage yard and port it out. Easy to do, and worth it in terms of flow. It's a good mate up with the 60mm TB, and shouldn't cost you more than $100 for the part and tools to port.
ok i know a few places were i can get the IM but how the hell would i port it shouldnt i send it to a pro i mean this is comeing from someone that hardley knows anything about motor work
