Lightbulb stage 2 a auto?!?

Hey,

I drive a auto 03 and do exterior mods just for fun, but when warranty runs out i was thinking of doing an auto project to run some quick quarters. or i may just buy some other older car(manual) for a project. but my question is can a auto tranny handle all the pressure and is there ways to improve an auto tranny. manual is kinda simple to improve but I dont really hear much about autos.

This has been discussed before...plus, I have a auto Lancer too and have read plenty about its downfall. Read that the auto Lancer could only handle about 4-5 psi max without tranny slipping/issues...so, probably not the best way to spend the money. What you "might" do is what I'm doing. I might get flamed, but I bought a project VX Civic HB with D16Z6. It was a great price; plus it is ready from a turbo kit. Only about 1-1.5k for a Greddy turbo kit for this car. Alot cheaper, in my opinon, than other Lancer FI kits. Hope this helps.

you sir are an idiot

seriously bro, where did you get that info from? back of a cereal box?

vince ran 11psi even 12psi i reckon his auto lancer, netting him 230whp. tranny slippage? nope

nextgen ran 11psi on his supercharged lancer. yes, he did have tranny problems, but those appeared before the supercharger kit, but supercharger his car didn't make it worse

and finally, yours truly is currently boosting at 11psi (still at the shop) but transmission is PERFECT

This info was from before any stage 2 was available. Plus, before RIPPS was available too. All the above examples from RIPP mods? 4-5 psi might have been with running stock internals with auto tranny. Sorry, bout the lack of details. By the way Green, congrats on the stage2...225 hp, must be nice. Is it tuned yet?

vince and countless others have run over 200whp on rrm's turbo kit (stg2 or stg1)

a few others have done so on ripps sds kit (nextgen, soon to be me, etc)

mines getting tuned this week (again) and hopefully i'll have it back this weekend

keep in mind, omarboy is running 300whp on his stock tranny (just clutch i believe). i think we have the same tranny as the miragers, so we should be safe up to 250whp for autos, maybe 300whp for the sticks.

above that (for autos) you might want to look into a torque converter upgrade for safety

oh yah? so with better internals which would be a must you guys run over 10 psi with stock auto tranny? did you upgrade flywheel? Ive been pondering this for a few days now. finally getting some decent answers. torque converter is something you should have? Nub question. What will that help out with?-Slippage?

rebuilding an auto tranny will help ur slippage issue, which is expensive. trq converter helps.

to clear some stuff up: you can run 11psi or so on stock ENGINE internals. above that you need to upgrade to some stronger stuff

if you are running 230whp or above on your auto tranny, i would suggest grabbing a stronger torque converter to reduce the chance of killing your tranny. if you are pushing serious power, you may want to upgrade your tranny
