TT install

I was looking through the evo threads and their ECU pictures don't look like mine. What wires should I be tapping for an HKS Type 1? Anybody know?

I haven't heard of anyone doing it that way. I wanted to because I didn't want to buy the harness but the information wasn't out there or at least I couldn't find it. Try to get the harness it is only like 16 bucks.

to make the turbo timer part work, you dont need to tap the ECU. but im guessing you want the speed sensor stuff to work, so on the ecu i dont have a clue on the plug to tap. if you really need that, go to mitsu and they can easily give you a print out on what wire does what on your ECU.

On the EVO they are listed as the following...

#89 - Crank position sensor (brown)
#86 - Speed sensor (black wire with yellow strips)

the harness is only for part tapping into the steering column to get the standard TT functionality. the type 1 has two wires that need to tap into the ECU to get the extra functionality, rpm and speed monitoring.

i found an old post you made that had something similar to this. i tried the speedo wire but i think the wire taps i bought were too large. they're barely touching the insulation on the ecu wires, let alone getting into them. oh, and the fact that it's friggin dark out was seriously hampering my looking at tiny wires task.

i did drill a small hole in my cubby hole to run the tt wires through so it can live in there in peace. LOOKS hot....will be more functional in the future.

thankd dude!

yeah, i kinda changed it to this one cuz i made a booboo. i hope no one hooked up the o2 sensor on the old one

and if anyone is wondering, apexi changed wiring harness designation from m7-e to m6-a. they're the same.

it's odd having the car run after i've taken the key out. for now i'll just set it to turn off when the key is taken out, but that's definitely going to take some getting used to.

install looks awesome. small hole in the back of the cubby lets the TT sit there nice and flush with the back. the passenger area...well.....

and a picture of the outback blimp for viewing pleasure.
