rrm turbo modified...up pipe.... any one done it?

so i was showing some ppl my turbo kit and they thought it was a really stupid design on how the exhaust goes down then back up and i hate how the exhaust leaks always happen where the header and up pipe are b/c u have to take out the whole assembly...so someone told me that it might be possible (cause i wanna get a custom down pipe made) that an exhaust shop could re design

anyone done that w/ the header RRM has...

lemme know...or n e comments...

Get a better gasket. Like thicker. I have had the best luck with 1/8" thick compressed fiber type gaskets on my header and test pipe. They have some crush and the thickness eats up any gap.

The only other design i ever thought about that could be done with the RRM kit while still keeping the intercooler piping in the same location would be to make a turbo manifold with the flange for the turbo on the top. Then just fab a down pipe and ur good. It make take some rotating of the turbine housing, or it may not fit under the hood all together. But thats theonly other solution i could think of

I don't see why its a stupid design. Its exhaust piping going to a turbo, bam, whats the real difference from that and a manifold.
I too have an exhaust leak at the bottom of my header, but when I redo my pistons next month I am going to have the flanges cut off and a v-band clamp installed. My flange on the header isn't even, so vs getting a thicker gasket or machining down the flange, I'll have the v-band clamp installed and it'll be easier to get to in the long run. Just my .02 cents
