I had this crazy idea (that MANY people have had and done before) of turboing their automatic lancers! You can see the mods in my sig so I am starting to run out of the "inexpensive" stuff. I do not have the 2.25" exhaust piping but will probably get that. ANYWAY, on the idea of turboing and peicing together my own kit I believe I need very little so correct me if I am wrong.

Turbo 16G or T25/28 $100 used for the T's
Oil lines- $150 through RRM
Turbo Manifold- I already have RRM headers (stock DP)... I should be able to make the turbo work with those, shouldn't I?
FPR- $100
Fuel Pump- $200
Tuning- I already have RRM piggyback
Intercooler- I wouldn't need one for 5 or 6 PSI
BOV- $200

That all comes to $750. That is going high on most of the stuff by a couple dollars here and there as I would definately shop around for a while. What else would I need?

 

T25 or T28 will work w/ your RRM header, but You need the Up and Down pipes to attach it. Only RRM can supply you with that. If you go w/ the 16G, you'll need to get rid of the headers and get a Turbo Manifold to accomodate that. As for them being 100 dollars? i dontknow about that. Maybe they're really old and could use a rebuild. That can set you back another 2 or 3 hundred dollars.

Everything else seems to be good. Oh, You need the piping!

 

ahh piping, I was majically hoping the air would find its way around where it needs to go while staying compressed lol. That would help. Ok, so maybe, 300 or 400 for the turbo and whatever for the pipes. Still not THAT expensive of a kit.

the T's are the dsm turbo's I believe. Tons of people with DSM's getting rid of turbo's for no other reason than to upgrade.

 

Yes. We sell our complete turbo kits every once in a while without turbo charger and just deduct it from the total. Not a bad way to go if you already have a turbo from someone.

i think you are pretty low on the turbo price, i wouldnt personally buy one for that cheap. As far as other things you would need, gauges may help and you would need a wastegate actuator.

 

Let us know how things go - I've been getting nipped by the turbo bug, but I have an automatic and I don't want to drop too much money on my car until the bank no longer has claim to her.

 

what are your other options besides the FPR and a piggy? could u sub those out and get say an emanage? and would adding a return fuel system help any with a system like urs?

 

Theres a guy named mike on here selling his custom Turbo setup for about 900$, it was making nice power on a 2002 OZ. Ill see if i can find the link for you.

so if you got bigger injectors and emanage, u can skip the fmu and such right? is it safer this way? (and a tune)
