Bye Bye stock motor mounts!!!!!!!

This is what happens to stock motor mounts under some real horsepower!!!!
Solid motor mounts are a must for turboed applications!!

Not only is the mount oval instead of round but the rubber mount on the top left is totally split threw. I talked to those guys at road race and ordered a set of there solid mounts and the difference is night and day. The motor doesnt even move. I put in the front and rear mounts and vibration isnt that bad. It took about 4 hours to put them both in by myself. The car pulls so much hard.

All you turboed guys need to get a set of these!!! Get that power to the wheels and stop wasting it with engine movement.

Damn you rocked that motormount! I only have the front motormount and I definately feel the difference. Recently I changed my clutch and at that time I had a chance to inspect the front motormount and it is cracking a little bit.

Its right around 185hp and 180 torque. With the T-25 turbo, as soon as i hit the throttle the car starts pulling. You should do the back mount too, its not that bad to change.

So, how hard is it to change motor mounts, I should be able to do it on my own, right?

The front mount is easy, I didn't even attempt the rear so I have no idea how that's like.

Front mount is EASY.
Rear mount is really mother****ing cocksucking ******* hard.

Expletives used for emphasis. I actually sold my Lancer with the hardened rear mount on it because I didn't want to have to suffer through swapping the stock one back in. Seriously.

The back one isnt that bad!! The mount is two pieces. The mount its self plus the bracket that bolts it to the motor. You have to take both pieces out and put them back in at the same time. I found the hardest part was taking the old one out. There are two bolts on the lower part of the bracket that are a little hard to get to and break loose. It took me like 2 hours to do the back one. The design is just bad. It goes right over the power steering and wont slide out easily.

I just wanted to chime in because I thought the back one well sucked @$$. I was doing this install in my driveway and I was frustrated because that sucker didn't want to break loose. Arh! I just gave up and put the front one on, heh heh

ratcheting flexible head wrenches will be your BEST FRIEND for the rear. was able to do the rear in just over an hour with those. and if you cant break it loose, use another wrench as a cheater, if anyone knows what im talking about. only needs to move slightly to break loose.

Ya thats excatly what you need to do!! ratcheting wrenches are such a help. I didnt have a set when i did mine. As long as you can break the bolts loose your ok. I managed to get my breaker bar on the ones bracket to the motor from the top.

wow, you killed that thing!!

rear is a bit of a *****, but with the right tools it came out easily. i'm noticing that even my hard mounts are starting to wear. the polyurethane is starting to separate from the metal of the bolt hole that actually connects the mount to the motor on both front and rear. i'll repair it when i put the turbo in and also going to put the extra mount in from the shock tower to the head
