Need To Know About Rrm Turbo

Yet another turbo thread I know, but I have some questions I like answered. First to Turbo Lancer Owners or RRM, with the intercooled kit does the BOV make the PSSSST!! noise, even with or intake set-up??, and if not can RRM sell the turbo kit with HKS BOV which can adapt to our system??. Second, when pruchasing the Turbo Kit should I get the forged pistons, intake manifold and Turbo ECU??. Will this allow for more boost??, If so how much 7-9psi or more?? Plus what are the gains with all these mods??. And lastly, can I set-up a electronic boost controller to high boost for short periods of time without killing the car??.

Thanks ahead of time for any posts.

P.S. I'll like to run low 14's all day long, with this set-up, is it possible??

Well i have the regular RRM kit and since Ihave an auto I dont plan on too much more but to answer your questions

RRM will sell the kit with your choice of BOV. It says so on their site, just contact them ahead of time.

The stock BOV doesnt make too much PSSSSTT.

If you go with the turbo ECU (5 speed only) you can run more boost than stock however if you go with forged pistons then you can definitly run more boost.

I would recommend talking to RRM directly (562-906-0080) as Rob or Boe can give you exact info.

As for the intake manifold you will see a great increase with the turbo as the turbo increases power greatly.

Either way RRM is definitly the way to go and if you are willing to investigate smog legal issues I would definitly go with the header as that is a huge gain (as for smog legal check your local area for laws).

Thanks for the response Guru_Del. Have not RRM yet because I wanted to hear what owners had to say before calling them. I just love the sound of a BOV and want to have that sound if I go Turbo. And I mean the HKS SSQBV.

Anyone else with input??

Your ECU will have no idea where all the compressed air is going and will continue to add large amounts of fuel to match the air you're venting (which should be in a fuel mix as far as it knows). It will stutter and/or stall every time you let off the throttle. As one forum member put it (though in different words) the sole function of a blow off valve is to prevent compressor surge, not to sound cool or pick up chicks.
