Looking to get a turbo need help first
I am thinking about getting a tubo from Road Race in about 6 months, what should I do before, I am definiteley getting a cat back, high flow cat, and throttle body all throug Road Race, what else should I do?
Make sure if your getting header, you get road races because thats the only header you won't have to dent to have it fit properly with RRM's turbo setup. Depending on boost you wanna run, I believe pistons would be a good idea.
If you wanna run higher boost then u might wanna beef up the internals with maybe forged pistons. I also recommend u upgrade ur intake manifold with RRM's bored out ones. That's pretty much what I have in mind. Maybe an EMS as well... but im not experienced in the ECU area.
Technically, you really don't have to do anything else to run the turbo kit. Any other mod simply adds up to being icing on the cake when F/I'ing this car. Also, from RRM, you won't be getting a catback or a high flow cat but rather an axel back and a non-existant cat (aka test pipe, straight pipe, etc.) Any of your mods are gonna be based around what type of setup you want to run and what your goals are.

if you buy the turbo kit, remember that you won't be able to boost too high on stock internals. if you want to go higher than 7 or 8, you'll need forged pistons as paul said. i would prefer to find a place that can create a set with a slightly lower compression than the ones from road race. i don't think these are offered yet, but upgrading the crankshaft and connecting rods to forged units would be essential to high boost. does anyone know of a company that is making forged rods and cranks for the lancer, or of a company that can make them if you give the proper specs?
now, i'm confused as to why paul says you'll only need an axle-back exhaust? are you meaning a full-back, widened out from the downpipe back? turboes thrive on vacuum, so i would rather have less restriction when exiting the system. pipe out one of the cats, and high flow the other one (i enjoy breathing the air we have)
i guess i'm just getting into the expensive icing in my daydreams of what needs to be done to properly turbo a car...-=sigh=-

He's saying RRM doesn't MAKE an exhaust other than axel back. They do sell the GReddy Evo exhaust though.
7-8psi is plenty on a Lancer to keep you going for a while. Believe me, it's plenty of pull to maintain a grin on your face for at least a decent while.
