This turbo Lancer may be done.

So yeah, my SC manifold has cracked :/ pretty big so it looks as if my engine is smoking at a stop.

I callid of everything that needs to be repaired on the car, alignment air conditioner, fan control module, tie rod bushings timing belt, just to name a few. $800 worth. I got curious and KBB the lancer; in great condition $2000. man at this moment I don't want to put anymore money into the Lancer.

So my question to you guys, in your experience should I just trade the car in or use it as collateral for a better loan? If I traded in obviously I'm going to strip it down. If I keep it I'm going to keep it modified.

Thoughts?

I just dumped $1100 on it to get everything fixed. I love this little car, its reliable even when I really didn't take care of it. I don't know but I don't see my self parting it anytime soon and when I take it off the road it will be to make it a designated track/autocross car.But that's me and I get laughed at a lot for thinking of my car that way.

Same here I've put too much money into this car to sell it. I sorta got emotionally attached to it as well. For the money I can get back, it's just better to keep it.

Green_Bandit did you manage to figure out all of your tuning issues?

Man I'm just going speed density. Just need the 4 bar. But, I can't bring myself to buy it without fixing some things first.

I'm keeping her. I just got frustrated with things. Fixing this and that, I know it is an older car and maintenance is a definite thing at this point. Just seems like I have to do something or another every month. Bought some outer tie rods, FCM, and front motor mount just recently. I'll plug along with it.

Glad you decided to keep it. I have the same issue with my lancer, evertime i get one thing fixed, 4 more things attached to what i just fixed breaks down. eventually i will run out of things to replace, and just intime for the first thing i fixed to break down again, lol.

hell yeah keep it, I have had my lancer for around 6yrs now and I have literally put more money into that car than I payed for on the loan. I don't regret it at all. I recently purchased a 2013 mustang gt that I want to make a 700hp car. But the main problem is, I am getting more excited about switching my lancer to speed density. If only my damn tactrix cable would show up ugh. c'mon evoscan, wish they supplied tracking information.

hell yeah you kept it. I thought I was done for at least a lil bit since I dumped the $1100 only to find I need to replace my inner tie rod before I get it inspected.

The fiance said we could take it off the road and I could do whatever I wanted to it so in a couple of months it might be off the road and then its one to get some bigger things done to it.

Yeah, going to be doing my front and rear motor mounts soon. I really want a dohc head but $1000+ is still a little more than what I want to put into it.

I saw another guy here is selling his but his $1000 price is too much for one that's been played around with. Just looks suspect.

The issue now is the egr light in throwing. From what I read those can be a multi step problem.
