Evo 9 turbo fit the 4g94?

Hey guys i have a turbo lancer oz 06 and i blew my evo 8 turbo at the track this year. Yesturday i baught an evo 9 turbo from a guy here in quebec and it seemed different from my old turbo. When i got home i compared my old evo 8 turbo with my new evo 9 turbo and the intake housing is 1'' bigger on the 9. With the evo 8 turbo we had to cut a part of the intake housing to fit near the water pipe on the engine block. Now i was wondering if anyone has ever used an evo 9 turbo for the 02-06 lancer? Let me know because if it doesn't fit i will have to use my old evo 8 intake housing on my new evo 9 turbo.

Ok the evo 8 intake housing doesn't fit the evo 9 center part so....i test fitted the turbo on the engine and the water pipe is in the way even with the housing nipple cut off...i will keep this updated on how to use the evo 9 turbo if it's possible

Ok if anyone wants to use an evo 9 turbo it's also possible but will require a more intense modification of the water pipe. You have to cut 1 side of the braket from the water pipe and bend it a whole lot more than if you're using the evo 8 turbo. Bending the water pipe might crack the pipe on the braket welds so it will have to be welded. Here's a rough idea of what it should look like when you're done

The exhaust turbine is 10.5 which is bigger than some evo 8 that are 9.8 but the later model evo 8 have the 10.5 exhaust turbine also...the only difference is the intake housing im guessing from the evo 9 is 1'' bigger than the evo 8 10.5...someone correct me if i'm wrong because iv never had the evo 8 10.5 only the 9.8. As for more power i have no idea but i guess so because why would they change the turbo model from the evo 8 10.5 to the evo 9 then.

Not worth making the install harder. Stick with the 8 turbos. But on the other hand 8 turbos may be getting harder to find...

Actualy no evo 8 are easier to find because they are older models...and the 9 turbo fits also but u have to bend the coolant hose a whole lot more and might need to reweld the braket in place. Evo 8 turbos vary between 300-450$ us btw Thahomeboyb...look in the evo 8-9 sales forums

I believe both wheels in the 9 turbo are larger as well. It's capable of making 30-40 more whp vs. the 8 turbo.

That's what you want haha u don't want shaft play....shaft play is caused by worn turbo bearings so if it has no shaft play that's what you're looking for.

Random Would you happen to know where the input and output speed sensors are.
