So i sold my lancer to my brother and got a 2011 altima , before getting me the rest of the money he screwed the car up, and in turn gave it back. So I'm doing what i should've a long time ago and yanking the motor to build for a turbo set up. I already ordered maintenance parts like water pump, timing belt, new coils, and even an oil pump since the car has 160 thousand miles on it. Planning out the forged pistons, acl bearings, head studs, and what not. Now, mileage taken into consideration is there any "extra" work i should do or get done at a machine shop
any time you're building a high performance engine, you should consult a professional engine builder/machinist before you buy anything, as they may want to oversize the pistons and bore the cylinders...tolerances are the most important thing...I've seen people get all the right parts, slap them into the block themselves, and ended up with vicious piston slap, because the piston-to-wall gap was too big, or blow head gaskets cause the head was warped...it's equally important that the builder is familiar with 4Gxx engines. You can save money by assembling it yourself, but you should get machine work (cleaning/decking, bore/honing etc.) done prior to assembly...once all the parts are fitted, it's like a brand new motor, mileage is almost irrelevant...
Ya thats pretty much what i was planning( cleaning/decking/honing) and getting the head just freshened by Headworks. As far as boring, hasnt everyone on here pretty much decided there is next to no room to safely bore the block cause of the coolant passages being so close. Ive been venturing around this forum for like a year and a half and only vaguely remember seeing that LLT bored out like an extra .5 or .75" . And by no means am i throwing everything together by myself, i might as well literally put the money in the toilet for that
but i am being helped by multiple people whom have built, dare i say it.....hondas....and a couple muscle cars, hard to find anyone around me that works on mitsubishis and doesnt only speak spanish.

you would not be boring .5 inches, maybe .005, it's only to make sure the cylinders are the same diameter top to bottom, and that they have a nice fresh surface...it's not an over-bore to increase displacement...
guys that build Honda B motors should be able to build a 4Gxx...
