How TO Custom Turbo
How TO Custom Turbo
Well, guys, dont flame me for this- but I've searched for it and found vague answers all spread apart. I want to make a custom turbo setup myself. I want to be cost effecient, thats why im going this route. I have experience in welding, and i know lots of people who can do the plumbing. But my problem is that i dont know EXACTLY what is included to get a turbo in the oz lancer. as far as i know:
Turbo unit (t4)
oil lines
upgraded injectors (???)
custom exaust manifold to connect turbo to
exaust piping to connect turbo to exhaust
flanges
blow off valve
plumbing pipes for intake
(possible intercooler)
anything else im missing????
well i have a jist of it, but i do not know if the turbo unit is the right size, i dont know what type of injectors to get, and i dont know where the blowoff valve goes.

your probably going to wind up spending more money if you go custom. ( i know from experience) your best bet is probably to get one of those www.turbo-kits.com kits since they are cheap and work from there to upgrade and stuff.
well i wouldnt have to if i run a low psi such as 6 or 7, it would be nice though. yeah, i guess i am gonna spend a grip, but at least at the end i could say i did it, and if something goes wrong ill know exactly what it is.

This is all I can think of off the top of my head (most has been covered before)
- Turbo, manifold, downpipe, intercooler, intercooler piping, oil feed, drain tubes / lines, o2 housing, wastegate, BOV and piping, boost controller, EGT gauge, boost gauge, air / fuel gauge, SAFC, bigger injectors, new fuel pump, cannot remember anything else right now. Probably a couple mandrel bends for the custom piping etc .....
If you get most of the electronics used (cheaper) and if you aren't worried about form over flash (i.e. a MBC instead of the more expensive electronic ones), you can keep costs down significantly. If you go about things the right way, costs will be minimal (before i went insane, I had priced a complete kit for about 1250 or so for my car)....
No need to replace the rods and pistons unless you plan on insane boost. All of my experience has been with 4G93s and I have seen then run 8 - 10 psi non-tuned with no major problems and as much as 12 psi tuned, stock internals.

SAFC is pretty easy to use and I dont see why it wouldn't work on a Lancer. Works on Mirages just fine and I dont think that Mitsu changed the electrical schematics that drastically for it not to work
Additional injectors are not really needed for such little boost. MSD DIS unknown if it works on the Lancer, but does not work on the 4G93. MSD to our coils: You are the weakest link. Goodbye.

The SAFC is pretty easy to use, but people keep yelling me it wont work on the USDM lancer.
Anyways Airquez, the SAFC works perfectly with adjusting the fuel curves, If you need any help with the settings send a message on over.
