Just muffler or an actual exhaust system? With just a muffler you won't get any performance gains, at least noticeable. If you want a full system i'd go magnaflow or greddy, those seem to be the most popular in terms of performance and sound.
So your saying just chaning out the stock muffler will give me no gains. When I had my truck I just changed out the exhaust and it gave me a nice rumble and some gains but not much. Are cars different.

well, if your lookin for a deep sound that wont sound like a honda farting on the road, then just change out the muffler, because lets face it, its from the same place as a honda....
Yea im not all into racing just want something that sounds better then stock and doenst give me that bee sound you hear on alot of ricers. What muffler woudl yall suggest.
Well just replacing the muffler really only changes a very minor part of the exhaust line. The system, on the car anyways, uses relatively small diameter pipes so just having one small section isn't gonna do much for performance. On trucks, all I can think of is that the exhaust system could possibly already be using larger pipes so maybe the muffler was the kinda of bottleneck area of the chain. Depending on what muffler you get it could be nice and deep or real ricey. My brother put just a muffler on his corolla and its sounds like the classic ricer mobile. You might have to get the muffler welded on too, so there might be no going back once you do it, at least not with more cutting of your exhuast system.
not sure what the diameter on the lancer stock is, but most of the upgraded systems use 2.25" pipes, which is why just a muffler won't do anything, you'll still be using skinny pipes before it.
The magnaflows not too expensive. Can get it for like 400$ i believe from the RRM website. Go to http://www.roadracemotorsports.com/ to take a look.
I am selling my RRM Magnaflow axel back. I didnt know if u were looking for a used one or not, but if u are interested PM me. Otherwise, even if u buy new, it sounds nice and low. And not like a pissed off bumble bee. I like the magnaflow muffler, because u cant hear it from a mile away. Also talk to Pgmike he has heard it before. Good luck with the search!
