what do you mean you don't want to turbo becuase of gas? if you are talking about prices being high and the turbo eating up gas mileage, then don't worry about it. as boeturbolancer said in a post, the turbo acts as a good power adder at cruising speeds so you actually remain right around the same mpg.

It won't matter what method you use to increase power. More power generally equals less fuel efficiency. Like hotshot said, a turbo can actually increase your mpg due to the fact that it allows your car to use the fuel more efficiently.

If you're looking at going the n/a route for power, run a search for n/a mods because there's already at least one good thread discussing this topic.

Just intake, header, and cat back exhaust alone, I have lost a lot of mpg rate. That might be because of running rich/lean and the fuel curve. Buy the RRM piggyback ecu and you should gain some back from your bolt on mods, since it fixes the fuel.

to make it easy on you, if you aren't going turbo for sure, your gonna need, exhaust, header, intake, ported intake mani, throttle body, piggyback...to get anywhere near 160, i still dont'o think that will get you there, prolly with those you would be around 130-150 at the wheels. all of these which you can get from www.roadracemotorsports.com

Engine:
CAI, Ported Intake Manifold, Bored throttle body, header, test pipe, cat back exhaust, spark plug wires, cam gear/shaft, fuel management system, pistons/connecting rods, bigger fuel injectors, grounding kit

Upgraded clutch, short shifter and stuff will help you run faster

Just stuff thinking off my head, much more stuff could probably be done.
