Another turbo Question.


One day I was talking with a mechanic, he does mustangs with superchargers.
So he was telling me about this project they did in the shop.
Mustang V8 with a supercharger.
And he mentioned that by adding supercharger they shorted the engine life
by some many miles.

Can someone tell me if turbo shortens the life on our 4G94 enignes?
I mean Dahhhh it does but if you rebuild the engine using forged pistons and
rods, connection rods, piston rings???
Would you be able to drive 100K miles on the turbocharged engine
(5 psi intercooled, sometimes 11 psi)???
(on the setup mentioned above)???

 

a turbo definitely shortens the engine life. i dont think any turbo lancer has taht many miles yet for us to really know. 11psi is a lot on our motors and would probably drop the lifetime even more.
