Kungfu's Turbo Reinstall (56k PIITB)

Hey guys and gals. Just wanted to share my progress on reinstalling my turbo kit and wanted to share my improvments and troubles on the kit as i go. I was previously boosted for around a month and I had my turbo die becuase of prior abuses. The kit was used and is now going to be better than new!

First off this is the turbo i just received back from GPOPSHOP.com

The cartridge as a waste so i went ahead and upgraded to a t28 cartridge and ported the exhuast section of the turbo, both inlet and exhuast port.

Today I removed the shoddy heat wrap from the up and down pipe, removed some rust i cam accross (pain in the ass btw), evened up the flanges with a sander and polished them with some sanding (hour and a half) and purchased some high heat paint. Here are some before and after pics.

Awesome man. I love how you have your FMU mounted... in fact I'm stealing your mounting location and doing the same.

What did you use to paint your uppipe?

Love the way the up-pipe down-pipe looks, a big improvement over the heat wrap.

A little paint will go along ways, huh?

So when is the hood up for spray?

krnzzang84720 Jul 23, 2007 02:30 PM

I like your painted up/down pipe!! looks sweet and clean!! and i love your FMU mount!! keep up the good work!! i am waiting for my car from shop!! as soon as it comes back, i will post my kit too!! couple days after i finish turboing my car i got into a accident,,,, sucks!!!

kungfugirl Jul 23, 2007 03:17 PM

Thanks for the good words on the piping, i am considering jet coat or just buying some aluminum sided heat wrap for it to keep heat down. The main goal of painting the stuff was to keep rust off, i spend an hour taking the rust of the outside! Now they are perfect, I'll post a pic of the turbo mounted up late tonight.

BTW krnzzang I am excited to see your kit on!

kungfugirl Jul 24, 2007 08:32 PM

Well i had a setback today.

I am tring to install a turbo and I am wondering what size is the coupler so i can attatch the piping i have to the maf.

I seem to have misplaced my adapter and i need to bu a new one asap!

Anodized is just for aluminium parts for your information...;) For steel parts, you can have it painted, zinc or nickel plated or ceramic coated.
