ITB's, twin tbs, anyones help
Okay considering a twin throttle body system, and need advice from experts.
Is anyone currently successfully running a twin throttlebody or individual throttle body system on a USDM lancer 4g94 or 4g93, successfully on a daily driver? IF yes what does your setup contain? hp and tq ranges? any info? hope someone out there can help |
You probably wont gain anything on the twin tb on the 4g94.
I'm sure you would see something on ITB's but I'm not sure the time and effort would be worth it. As for the HP/Torque ranges, I am 99.998% positive that you would have to find out yourself as I don't think anyone has dyno'd a set up like this on a 4g94 yet. |
well i've heard for an n/a guy it can put me above the 150hp mark,
anyone else? |
The main gain would be if you got the setup tuned with an engine management system. With a full exhaust, and ported intake manifold, and a good tune it could probably put you up there.
|
drucea, you probably came closer than anyone did? did you ever have it installed and running?
|
Nobody has done it. The twin TB kit from A2 Designs was crap and disappeared. RPW has a kit I believe but it costs a fortune, is a pain in the ass to tune and is a waste of money until you have a heavily modded car. This isn't a bolt-on part, it's a major mod that requires a lot of skill and money to work properly. For the price you could just turbo the car.
|
ambystom, couldn't you just determine the cfm on a regular intake then figure how much of an increase would be needed in fuel for the second throttlebody and adjust accordingly?
i know some carb's guys (not lancer's) that have some trick two barrels four barrels, twin four barrels, six shooters, etc. that might be able to help me with the tune but would the 4g94 be able to take that much air and how bad would it deplete engine life. |
Not really, it's more involved than that because the flow of one can affect the flow of the other. People have a hard enough time tuning for ITBs let alone twin TBs. At the moment it's a waste anyways, the car isn't starving for air and there's way better mods you could do than spend 3000$ on a TB kit.
|
Technically I had the "twin throttle body" part installed, but I left the second TB closed and the car ran like normal. At that time, I didn't have the money to test different pipe fittings to run piping for both sides. So I never found out if it would run at all with both TBs connected to the MAF sensor. But according to everyone else, it wouldn't have worked at all. I still have one for my car though, and maybe one day just for ****s and giggles, if I have too much free time, I'll put it back on and run piping to both sides just to see what would ACTUALLY happen.
|
thanks guys, you answered my questions and i'm guessing there are no lancers on these boards running more than 1 throttle body.
|
Nope, not much point really.
|
honestly i used to hate people who said this but...
buy a turbo.. |
You could twin-turbo with that twin tb kit..
|
Why? I highly doubt a twin turbo setup would be effective on a four cylinder.
