Oil for turbo'd lancers

What kind of oil are you running on your turbo'd lancer? :mitsu:

gokusupersaiyen Oct 28, 2003 07:47 PM

castroil 20/50W non synthetic

zlancer Oct 28, 2003 07:52 PM

don't run synthetic unless its a thick synthetic like 10w50...oil pump doesn't respond too well to thin oil. I also ended up using a 20w50....i forgot the brand tho..lol

Pensoil 20w50.

In regards to oil. 5-30 conventional in no thicker or thinner then
5-30 synthetic and the reverse is true for synthetic. Use what is recomended for your set up. Using too thick of an oil will sacrifice power, and gas mileage. This will also make your engine work harder on start up in cold weather and cause more engine wear.
So in short all I am saying is 5-30 synthetic or otherwise is the same as going 1 minute= 60 seconds. I hope that helps clear up any confusion.

i am running 20 w 50 non-synth

LancerCALI88 Oct 28, 2003 10:13 PM

Try running a search for synthetic oil and oil pumps or something along those lines. You'll find a loooong thread including several posts from Chris (Kontradictions) with some informative and a lot of unconfirmed, untrue and speculative info. Basically though, yeah, 10w is 10w.

im using 20w/50 valvoline vr-1 racing motor oil
its cheaper than synthetic

TURBOit Oct 31, 2003 04:37 PM

i was recommended to use 10w/30, it also depends on your location, colder climates make differences in the oil you should run

cerfur Oct 31, 2003 04:43 PM

i may not be turbo but i always go synthtic it amy cost twice as much but if for some stupid reson you loose your oil your engine wont seize rite away i put a big gash in my oil pan back in the day when i drove a stealth and it compleatly drained out luckly i heard the engine making some objectional noises so i pulled over and i had no oil repaired the pan and whala no issues what so ever with the car

blackmantis Oct 31, 2003 05:27 PM
