Question Rear Speaker Setup

hey is it possible to cut holes for 6x9s in the rear without messing up the trunk? has anyone done this and have pics?

they do make adapters so you can fit 6x9's...where to get them i'm not sure...but search the internet for them.

what do you mean messing up the trunk? if you mean cutting holes....well its gonna be hard to fit a 6" by 9" object in a 6.5" round hole. but if you don't mind it sitting on top of the surface, i'm pretty sure as zlancer said there are adapters.

I made some enclosures for the 6x9s in my old car and sat them above the holes. Can't decide if I'm gonna do the same with the Lancer or just get 6 1/2s.

i havent really looked but, i think you can just fiind the measurements for the 6 by 9s and use a sawzall and just cut the metal out im just not sure if the speaker grills will fit ok but just a suggestion

i wouldnt cut on anything i would just buy 6 3/4 speakers and they will fit perfectly.. just my opinon though

why do u want 6x9s? is there something "special" that i didnt know about 6x9 speakers??

when i went to look up speaker sizes for the lancer just for fun on the best buy installation computer...it showed that front's were 5 1/4" also..and rear's were 6x9"s...it was weird

best buy huh. well if you check out crutchfield, for 02-03 Lancer it says 6 3/4" all the way around. i'd be willing to trust crutchfield over best buy.

They're 6 3/4" all around for me and not all 6 1/2"s with oversized mounts will fit for what it's worth.
