Looking to get the new Apline Type-R Components up front in my Evo. Crutchfield says they wont fit, but I'm not pleased with the selection that does fit. Is there anyway to get a 3" deep speaker to fit? I know the hole is about 2.75 deep from what I have read. How much room do I have between the mounting locationa and the door for the spacer? Top Mount depth for the APlines from what I have read is 2.5". Any help would be great. TIA.

use a trim ring on the speaker, I used a .5 inch piece of mdf on my speakers which were 2.75 depth, no probems

 

no problem clearing the door panel either? Im not only worried about hitting the window, but also worried about clearance between the speaker and door panel. Is there alot of room to play with between the mounting location and the inside of the door panel?

 

ya there is, you will need a dremel to take off a little platic inside the door there is plenty to take off. My speakers were very close to 3 inch mountind depth, try .5 inch and you should be fine. I have an evo but I'm sure the doors are similar.
