well depends on what you want in the alarm. so far, i've found the two most recommended are vipers and compustars. i'm planning to go with a compustar alarm though as all i've heard is positive stuff about it and the price is cheaper than vipers. but, that's jmo =)

here's some links that may help you:

Hope that helps! =)

Viper car alarms are the best IMO, I have one in my car. Car alarms don't stop thieves from breaking in, they just help by making it more risky for the thief to steal what he wants. The two way is a waste of money IMO because say you're in the shopping mall and your two way goes off telling you your door was opened. By the time you get from the mall to your car the thief will be gone with whatever he wants anyway. The best part of the alarm is the ignition kill so the car won't start without your key. Remote start is up to you, but it is way cheaper to start it yourself.

i was there last wednesday..over at the adjusters place...and he told me to call him tuesday as in today and look for the receipt for that head unit...the guy seems like a nice guy...helpful and all that...but i dun think he believes me about how much it was when i bought it...but back to security system.

im thinking bout putting about 500 dollars in for security...alarm and remote start...is that too low?? or to high??? or about ok??? oh and in chicago remote starts...its like impossible to live without them...esp when its snowing and snow on the car turns to ice

for the pager alarms here in toronto, depends on the shop you go to. i'm getting my compustar installed for $400 CDN.

i like the pager alarms as this at least notifies you that someone is in the process of stealing or grabbing something in your car. you can call the cops in advance and let them know where your parked at and they'll do the rest!

nowadays when alarms go off, no one pays attention. but if you personally know your alarm is going off...your gonna take notice and do something about it. jmo

btw...if you get a remote starter and you also have manual car...ensure you stay in neutral when you got it parked...or you may find that you need to call the insurance adjuster again

Theres no way you can remote start the car if its not in neutral because there is a process to arm the remote start and you have to be in neutral to arm it.

have you gone to other shops and have they also said the same thing? i know you want to get one asap due to your incident from before, but you would want to ensure you get the best alarm for the best value.

good luck on your search!!

it's all the same

Directed electronics (DEI) makes viper and avital. They are by far the best. And they are the easiest to install. I just put an Avital 2300 on my 02 Lancer, and it was very simple. Go and get a wiring diagram and do it yourself. 2-ways are cool, but not much better at security. You can get a 2300 out the door for about 100.00. Just so you know, the UNGO 2-way pager's cost is about 160.00. Retail is about 600USD installed.
