Question Will these fit?

I finally got rid of my wretched Civic (Shudder), and got a new 2003 OZ. In my civic I had Infinity Kappa 6.5's in the fronts and 6x9s in the back.

Of course the 6x9s wont fit, but are the 6.5s too deep to go in the doors? I'm concerned about them interfering with the window, as it was extremely close in the old car.

If anyone has put these in, my other question is, where can I get an adapter to give them a nice rattle free fit? or do these speakers need one... I measured and they're actually pretty close to 6 3/4s, more so than a lot of other 6.5s i've seen.

If they are too deep, what model of infinity speakers would you reccomend?

I'd prefer to skip components because I dont want to chop holes in my car, and really dont want to spend money to buy the pods that mitsubishi sells for the ls.

Thanks for the input!

The 6 1/2s should fit just fine, but you need to do some sort of custom install so they mount properly. Check Hobie's car out.

Okay good.....
Is there anywhere I can just buy an adapter?
Like would they be at my 'local audio establishment'?

You can call crutchfield .. or can try to get a "kit" at a local audio store .. they should be able to hook ya up. I had the same issue with my Alpine 6 1/2" .. a little too deep and not round enough. Had a buddy install em and he made custom brackets to mount into the holes and we used spacers to make it so the magnet doesn't hit the window. they are really well in there .. so you may wanna fashion something like that.

What did you make them out of? I'd simply make a metal bracket but i'm worried that would run the risk of adding rattle.

While i've got some people's attention, I'm looking at HU's, I want one that will match the red lighting everywhere else in the OZ. Obviously I want it to be a good deck too though..

Any Reccomendations?

The guy that made my mount brackets actually fabricated them from a slab of metal in a square that would fit over the exisitng hole, mount into those holes and allows the new speakers to mount to it.

As for a HU ... Clarion has a unit that is a red color that is pretty similar to the OZ gagues red ... but IMO clarion isn't that good of a brand of a HU. I have an Alpine CDA-7894 MP3/CD .. its got "green" and "amber" lights ... amber is pretty close when lit up .. but it doesn't match the red. Good luck on finding that. Get a quality HU .. not one that matches in color .. my $.02

Thanks for the tip on the bracket.

of course I want a quality HU
I'd just like to find one that looks like it belongs there.

With all the HU's that have OEL displays that can be set to different colours, i'm sure I can find one that has the whole package.

Not without some custom molding, I don't think.
